this always seemed weird to me, like, what is it about their hurtboxes that makes them fall faster??

It might be that their wide neutral stances have them slightly further from wall, so the connect with it lower on the arc, just short enough for it to count as a quick fall off the splat (take with grain of salt, I'm no expert)

You mean FC df+1? The unblockable sword sweep right? You can do FC qcb+1 instead and it'll come out faster.
