Kate Crawford is a leading researcher, academic and author who works on the social implications of data, machine learning and AI. In 2016, she co-chaired the White House symposium AI Now, and recently wrote about AI and discrimination in The New York Times. In this talk, Kate Crawford will look at the potential uses of AI and machine learning in dark times, and how we might protect ourselves and those most at risk.

This aged like milk: gas station milk from their dirty milk dungeons. Was looking for the "2017 SXSW panel We are all scientists" where together three scientists (not amazon authors) discuss the value of and threat to critical thinking and scientific reasoning. why these skills need to be seen as accessible and important to everyone. unreal how it wasn't accessible, instead this shows up and that does not. lady says USA is at war with Australia, do not recall that act of congress happening. USA did however decalar war on Germany and italy, places speaker associates the USA with. While demonizing China, must have been filmed pre trade USA/China war. speaker goes on to uplift amazon and facebook with their data collections, says its okay reminds people its not okay when USA does it. Does speaker think NSA is okay as long as they're targeting the people whom the speaker perceived at this current moment in time as their enemies, even if they are citizens of the USA.
