Extended Q&A after the world premiere of Mr. Robot at SXSW.
USA networks presents Mr.Robot, a psychological thriller that follows Elliot (Rami Malek ) a young programmer, who works as a cyber-security engineer by day and as a vigilante hacker by night. Elliot finds himself at a crossroads when the mysterious leader (Christian Slater) of an underground hacker group recruits him to destroy the firm he is paid to protect. Compelled by his personal beliefs, Elliot struggles to resist the chance to take down the multinational CEOs he believes are running & ruining the world.
From Universal Cable Productions, this contemporary and culturally resonant drama also stars Portia Doubleday of “Her” and Carly Chaikin of “Suburgatory”.

Frankie Shaw who played Shayla should be up there...she was the best female actor on the show! Her character was unbelievable...played her to perfection. Mr Robot has a lot of Dexter hangover...blood samples vs data storage w/band names, the need to eliminate evil people, intelligent rationalizations, both guardian personalities to deal with their toxic shame.

+Ryan Maddox Elliot have difficulty expressing himself, but deep inside he was deeply troubled by Shayla's death. You can see in the episode where he found out Shayla's body at the trunk of the car. He seems to want to cry, but he cannot.

This show is amazing. Unfortunately, I get the sense that Mr. Robot and fSociety may just be figments of Elliot's imagination. Perhaps Elliot is Mr. Robot and has concocted all this stuff himself without realizing it (kind of a dual personality, thing). Yeah, there was the scene at the bar and the coffee shop, but how do we know those weren't hallucinations/dreams? Half of an episode was just Elliot dreaming during withdrawals. I'm guessing they don't go that direction, but it's always a possibility. Other than those very few instances, the fSociety people and Mr. Robot really haven't interacted with anyone. Hell, Mr. Robot somehow got to Elliot's desk at Allsafe. Hhm.....

"Is it gonna be like some love triangle?" Rami- "I'd enjoy that." I thought that was so funny!!! Also, I always wonder this. But, like in the scene when Mr. Robot and the 2 other guys were in the car when Eliot when into the big office building (I forget what it's called) who were the 2 guys actually seeing? Because only Eliot can actually see Mr. Robot. And they knew Eliot was in the building. And like when they were making the plan to mess with the heating system who was saying what?

Steel Mountain is the name of the building Mobley and Romero are the names of the guys Elliot himself ‘cause Mr. Robot is Elliot but a different part of him I guess in 2 years you learned it but I wanted to tell you anyway Have a good day ! 😆

@@olpeml no, in the car Mobley and Romero were just telling elliot what to do. Mr. Robot was "there" only talking to Elliot, you notice that because neither Mobley or Romero talk to Mr. Robot in the car, it's as if they're ignoring him, because there was no one there. I hope that's what you meant.

Kali Linux is specifically built for pentesting, but not that good for daily use. Ubuntu/Debian distros are most suitable for desktop use. Although I use Windows as my daily OS, Linux lacks too many programs.

It was Elliot talking to Terrell AS Mr Robot. He had split personality, so when he's Elliot he acts like him, when he's Mr Robot he acts like him. That's why everyone thinks he's so crazy, cuz he acts so weirdly different depending on what "mode" he was in. He is only Mr Robot to us so we know he's in that mode, and to fool us until it's revealed.

I love the show, but it's clear to me that the actors don't understand technology, politics and walk on egg shells when talking about the 1%. This is clearly entertainment, but listening to the actors speak ruins the show for me. So yeah, they're just actors, not intellectuals. On a positive note, at least the show's producer understands what he's talking about, even if he is just peddling faux rebellion for the sake of making money.

No, I was hoping they would have some type of interest or philosophical alignment with the characters rather than just being typical, average people. But, I don't think they care about any aspect of the anti-establishment, anti-corporate theme of the show. They are part of the 2%.

+JanSolo Yeah, plus their recent postponing of a show due to people possibly being offended because there are "similarities" to the recent Bryce Williams shooting is a great example of the people responsible for the show being establishment pussies. Though, honestly, the rebels don't make it big in the corporate industries. Including show-business.
