This video is sponsored by Competitive Cyclist. If you're in the market for new knee pads, make sure to check out the PEARL iZUMi Elevate knee guards. They're comfortable, breathe well, easy to pedal in and provide great protection. And they're available on Competitive Cyclist: bit.ly/3Pj527N
Today we're heading to Pajarito bike park so Macky can try out the biggest bike he's ever ridden, the Niner WFO 9 RDO. With 170mm of suspension in the back and 180mm in the front, what better place to try it out than Pajarito, which is known for it's steep, rough, hand-cut singletrack. The WFO is also available on Competitive Cyclist (bit.ly/3NYQhWK) in case you're in the market for the ultimate park bike.

@sydandmacky 2 жыл бұрын
The big platform also improves the pedal feel while descending. Most Enduro/DH style clipless shoes have less stiff soles than XC shoes (since you don't care as much about the pedaling efficiency) so the bigger pedals provide a nice wide platform that you can feel through the shoes. It's hard to explain, but you definitely feel more connected to the bike and less like you're standing on a tiny piece of metal!
@Magoo71
@Magoo71 2 жыл бұрын
@@sydandmacky Thanks for the explanation Macky! I really appreciate it! I wear XC Sidi', but maybe I should try a set of pedals like that to see if the bike handling feels different/better. Do you use these type of pedals on all your races?
@sydandmacky
@sydandmacky 2 жыл бұрын
Nope, just for trail/Enduro stuff as that's where we care about the descending feel enough to sacrifice some pedaling efficiency (the benefit of super stiff XC shoes). I would say the way we think about it is: is the focus of this ride the uphill (intervals, XC racing, etc)? XC shoes and pedals. Is the focus the downhill (general trail riding, Enduro races, bike park)? Enduro shoes and pedals.
