As someone who put a lot of planning into opening Sylva, there's a few things to know that can help with this expansion a lot: 1) The grades between Wilmot and Sylva aren't terribly steep, (mostly around 0.7-1%) but they are LONG, some are several miles at grade. It's a fuel-endurance contest more than a power-check. 2) Dillsboro Station is your ONLY access to water, and there's no fuel in this part of the map to start, until you build Dillsboro Service Center and Diesel Stand. 3) Dillsboro Yard is absolutely essential for sorting inbound cars from interchange, there's also 2 "secret" extra tracks for the yard not available in company mode, very useful to add them via sandbox once you unlock the yard. I've also been told it's CO-wee not COW-ee for annunciation. Good luck in Sylva! Lots of industry to build up there.

I’ve never been someone who could or understood how someone could spend hours during the day through the week playing a video game. Railroader has changed my mind. I’ve been playing this game and really like it. It strikes a nice balance between satisfying my liking of trains, putting thought into how you’re going to complete a task and seeing the fruits of your labor at the end of your workday. Work! I expanded east to Sylva first before going past Bryson beside passenger service. Between the Whittier Saw Mill, passenger service and the Sylva industries I was able to afford a big steam and diesel locomotive to help me push into Robinson Gap. 👍 The long haul of cars to and from the Sylva interchange will be a challenge I think. I love how the game gives you different options how to build and grow your business. Thank you and all the other players for your tips and early ventures into the game.

I opened up Bryson and sylva the same day... I didn't realize what I was doing at the time. That being said it worked out fine and I quite enjoy my play through.

There's a passing loop between the factories at Silva - great opportunity to run around and push back into the interchange. The switch on the far side of the interchange is good to leave against the interchange approach, so you don't end up with runaway locomotives, if you're doing chat or other ADHD stuff! Haven't figured an option at Andrew's other than a fussee down the line. Dillsboro service is definitely a good early plan, coal water and optional diesel is a must with steam!

Howdy Kerbo. Just stopped to catch your latest upload. Haven't played Railroader for couple weeks. The grind got to me. Love the game but it reminds me of "Groundhog Day", doing the same thing every day. Sylva to Alarka Copper is about 30 miles so you have a lot of work ahead my friend. I found that East Whittier to Alarka is the sweet spot for single player enjoyment.
