The patterns of symbolism can easily be twisted and inverted to create propaganda. We look at recent movies such as Wonder Woman and Mad Max, Furie Road, which use symbolic devices to replace masculine types with feminine characters.

I lost interest in most forms of mass media decades ago. Not for any reason other than it just bores me. I’m a hands-on kind of person. Over the years I’ve invested in countless audio/visual production tools. I have a respectable personal art studio in my garage. That’s what fills in the space where most people would be watching TV, going to the movies, etc. That’s what occupies the bulk of my time. And if I’m not tinkering with some art project, I’m out skateboarding.

Blew my freaking mind with this: “Things are not always what they seem. By simply filling masculine social tropes with female character types who embody those very tropes it might not be so much an elevation of the feminine we are seeing as much as a blind attachment to the masculine qualities as the ones that actually matter” Nailed it.

I'm a woman and I agree. I find it absolutely obvious what is happening and I find it pathetic and cringeworthy. Women and men are different, why is this so offensive to some? My husband taller, stronger and bigger than I am... we are not the exception. It's ridiculous to imagine that I could kick his ass. There are things I am better equipped to handle than he is and vice versa. Feminist only want to accept women as strong if they are masculine, which is funny because it is in essence as if they themselves feel like the masculine is superior and that is what should be achieved. They rage about the toxic masculinity all while striving to take on classic male roles. Very rarely is the feminine portrayed and admired for being beautiful, nurturing, patient, strong, motherly, etc., etc. Feminist have shamed women for be traditional... never have a felt shamed by a man for being feminine.

They don't want men and women together relying on each other and building families. They want consumers/individuals who rely on the government/corporatocracy (i.e. communism rebranded as globalism). They package this by convincing women that their natural tendencies are weak, inferior, NOT NECESSARY, so that women become masculinized and reject men. They are manipulating the brains emotional centers. What do we see? Traditional families decreasing in frequency, single-motherhood skyrocketing, cultural hedonism/nihilism. NO NEED FOR FAMILY, NO NEED FOR HERITAGE, NO NEED OR CARE FOR NATIONAL SOVEREIGNTY. The pursuit of this fairy tale is what is making both men and women weak. Moreover it is destroying our cohesion as a society, making nations ripe for the picking.
@Stevefor1776
@Stevefor1776 5 жыл бұрын
Men and women TOGETHER build. Their different characteristics support each other, they don't supplant. Men and women together build families and build society. The creators of "culture" don't want this, as any action that gives people a purpose or a goal (such as the welfare of wife or husband and children and by extension, society) counters the drifting, hedonistic mentality of the consumer. Family is a foundation stone, a purpose, an anchor, just as is a belief in God. These counter the attempt to make government the sole arbiter of "right" and they give people something of worth that precludes the mindless consumerism that is an attempt to fill a void in one's life. The goal is to turn us all into obedient consumers without anything fulfilling in our lives that isn't purchased.

They have this to an art , but they have pushed so hard it's showing. what is being done. A lot of people I think have lost the difference between a communication machine and life. So put an idea on the mind rot box and they think it's real life. But the best of the best have got it down to where the can put the right words in the wrong mouth , the right actions in the wrong body and as Aristotle said and his book on Poetics you can put horns on a jackass ARA tiger as long as it's done well in a painting. They remove the natural leader such as president Trump and put someone of their pun choosing in the natural leaders place. Now Comic Book Heroes art easy to manipulate and whatever propaganda they want to place in your head , roles make no difference with superpowers. @@boertush Logan brings with it the tradition, almost 2 decades of lore. Jackman's Wolverine was one of the last manly heroes, created one generation ago. People realy wanted to see him again in a more "adult" role. Besides, the propaganda in Logan was as subtle as Mad Max and Wonder Woman. In MIB International, Birds of Prey ir Ghostbusters, there was a more explicit propaganda. In Mad Max, Logan and Wonder Woman the symbols were hidden, metaphoric. Wonder Woman, for example, has the plot of a woman that was indoctrinated all her life to think that men were bad in nature, until she meets that soldier that she will fall in love. Above these 3, Mad Max is a little bit more explicit, but as Logan, has the weight of the originals, which brought a lot of original fans to the theaters.

That's not, in itself, an issue, until you realise that less than 1% of British people are in mixed race marriages. The care, encouragement, and the inspiration of values to the new generations is the true and meaningful work, If someone wishes to do something else, they are free to do so, but everything that is not the raising of the children is a supporting role. People are brainwashed to think going for enslavement inside the economy is success. Whom can't do something better are given that as a consolation prize. To bear and rice children is true power, should be used wisely. The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world. I understand in a chaotic society women could feel the child bearing biology as a liability, like having your best jewelry in a dark alley. You have more, you have more to loose, and I totally understand. I couldn't tell what to do, I guess it will take a lot of wisdom to bring happiness. What bothers me is when female characters don't have to put forth any effort to supplant the masculine, like Rey in TLJ. This angle of propoganda seems to want men to give women a place in the heirarchy, instead of them earning it. I don't like being told that I have to like the strange brew of masculinized women in movies nowadays. Just because I am a woman. I'm 5'6 and 120 in the scheme of things that doesn't lead to me remotely being able to do anything of what they show on tv and movies, because I know how bodies work. This is going to sound sexist but the man's role now is the same as it has always been. Protect,provide,point to God...that ia to say be a good religious role model. Be intelligent,strong,aware,scary...yes scary. A man must be able to have people fear what he can do and also know that he will be fair and responsible with the power he has. God gave men this place. Here is the catch...we have a tremendous reaponsibility as a reault of being given this power. I have noticed for years that Hollywood is intent on making men bumbling useless fools. That they have been pushing feminism and the "earth woman god" that will supposedly replace the true God and the true role that He gave to men. Raise your son's as men. Teach them to be strong and to be loving when it is the right time and place etc. Let the world go to hell...you can't stop it! Read Revelation...God and His followers win in the end!

Masculinity and femininity can, and will, someday be equally valued, but we are experiencing a boat rocking back and forth from one side to the other. Young people are unaware that they are being manipulated and encouraged to be extremely emotionally vulnerable and thus unable to have mature discussions about large cultural ideas without being "triggered" and assuming evil on behalf of someone with differing values. Get ready to be called a racist, sexist, bigot, homophobe, islamophobe, etc.

Robert Caswell Always with the pseudoscientific justifications. You really think that estrogen and testosterone have such drastic effects on every facet of our being that we should just conveniently keep enforcing the norms that have only just shifted away from the material domination of women? My dog has estrogen. She humps her bed and doesn’t give a shit about most other dogs, and her interactions are not at all sex determined. Animals play roles in nature to a certain degree, but to say that behavior, (logically ESPECIALLY for rational, self determining creatures like ourselves) can be chocked up to nature, and that it thus justifies a culture that perpetuates said notions of “natural behavior” is RIDICULOUS. Look, I make no claims to deep biological understanding of the true impacts of hormones vs conditioning on behavior across mammals (and real scientists don’t either I might add, as it turns out the interplay between sociology and biology adds a massive layer of complexity over our already thin understanding of both), but it seems to me abundantly clear that to make assertions like yours, you must start from a place of deep cultural bias and brainwashing. Let’s move away from that and have a rational discussion aight?
@roca967
@roca967 5 жыл бұрын
SwogFrog - I'm not sure how worthwhile it is to put too much effort into discussion with someone who comes in swinging with accusations of pseudoscience and brainwashing. With a start like that it doesn't look like a promising use of time. I would say the differences between men and women mentally would be about the same as is apparent physically. We have enough in common neither will be confused with a bed humping dog, but we can tell men from women immediately. The way I see it is layered: biologically determined human nature as a broad framework - some smaller differences between the sexes but with important implications - culture that finds different ways to deal with them. Bringing up rationality is another useful analogy. I would agree, along with Aristotle, that it's what sets humanity apart and indicates our function in the world. But that's layered too, over a foundation of animal and survival instincts (they didn't call it the neocortex for getting there first), and our rationality is often at odds with these other drives. Culture comes along to help people deal with this too (plenty of religion, philosophy and psychology speaks to this issue). If you think I was trying to say behavior is chocked up to nature, try reading my post again because I deliberately included an implication that's not what I was saying. If you actually want a proper discussion, I think we could start with what your conception is of traditional gender roles is. I've heard many different versions of what that means, but if what you're talking about is the material domination of women, I doubt that's what people have in mind.

It has been this way for almost 10 years. It has permeated popular culture like a plague. Media uses this strategy because it works. China knows this, which is one of the many reasons they created the Great Firewall and why they are currently developing their own internet. Most people soak up the covert symbolism and like a slowly boiling frog -- become reconditioned over years of exposure. There are far more people unaware and subject to these effects than there are people aware of it, so this strategy remains effective. With the recent containment of 'alt-right' (a word associated with bad symbols -- such as Hitler, racist, bigot etc.) media through collaborative efforts across multiple tech giants, shows you the threat they perceive from an opposing worldview that is slowly gaining momentum. This worldview will have to centralise itself outside of the US and into Eastern Europe / Russia with joint efforts from China if it wishes to progress at an accelerated rate.

And it's not always because of the stigma people give feminists that they "couldn't get male attention anyways" but because their ideology is so warped, it teaches them that male attention is essentially evil. Ironically enough, in almost every slut walk I've seen footage of, it's half self-acclaimed sluts, and half low-standards looking men creepily following them- the very kind of attention they proclaim to not want. Your idea that artist are some underground cabal of evil geniuses plotting to subliminally sway public opinion with their own Ideologies is so much overthinking paranoia that it has to be called out for the BS it is. Speak with any people working in the film industry or who know authors, or game devs, and ask them if they've ever seen any meetings where they discussed adding some kind of hidden message in their creations. Artists just don't care about that shit. Some hack artists might do some of that to sell talentless works of Modern Art or to play some prank social experiment. Ala' OBEY posters. We just don't get time for that kind of pointless planning. What do you think the end goal would be? Your more likely to create new terminology in the culture like Waynes World with terms like Schwing!! Even that shit is not planned. People aren't even good enough to make a guaranteed Viral Video.

I remember wondering about this pattern over the recent years. Mind you, I did not get the complete picture of revolution and subversion. I just wondered why we so rarely saw father son relationships in movies anymore. I saw plenty of father figures, it's just that the only somewhat healthy father-child relationships were ALWAYS father-daughter. With the daughter taking up the mantle. Very good essay. I needn't wonder anymore.

Exactly. Media has made use of His name as a curse word in movies and television. Now, a lot of weak minded people use His name in the same way, thinking it is ok and cool to use because Hollywood says it's ok. It makes these powerless people feel tough, edgy and progressive by using His name as a cursed word. It's funny, the more they use it, the more cursed they get. The pure hatred and jealousy they have for Him is atrocious, and anyone who cannot see this need to pay attention. These devil worshipers know the strength and unlimited power He has, that is why they are doing everything with their limited power on earth to break our trust and love for Him, by trying to brainwash weaklings through media. I will check out that channel. I know I will enjoy it, because I already acknowledge their agenda. Thank you for the recommendation. I've been noticing this for a long time. My wife used to think I was being sensitive or paranoid, but she eventually saw it too and now feels the same way. Take for instance: the Vikings series. They started by showing Ragnar's wife could defend herself against a couple of douche-bags, then the next thing you know, she's leading a division of female shield maiden badasses that dispatch men like they're cutting the grass. She eventually becomes queen with lesbian bodyguards that swing swords like they've never held one, yet we're supposed to suspend our disbelief and accept that they can beat a man twice their size because of "girl power." Yes, I get it. There were Shield Maidens in Viking Lore. But they were FEW and FAR between. Certainly not enough to have women in every battle. Those actually mentioned in history were royalty or the children of already great warriors. So, Lagertha? Sure. Astrid? Ok... At least she's hot. I'll overlook those two. But by Season 5 EVERY single woman on the show was a fucking shield maiden fighting alongside the men. And there are certainly no shortage of scenes where they are showcased insulting, besting, injuring, berating and killing men. I love the show, but my eyes are in danger of rolling out of my head. I love strong women (I married one...) and I love female protagonists like Wonder Woman. But they don't need to castrate men to show us that they're strong. Woman strength is different than man strength. When they constantly show us women being masculine it destroys both masculinity and femininity and we end up with mere shadows of both. I was so disappointed with Mad Max. I had such great hopes for Tom Hardy in the role. But Theron was clearly the main protagonist. If you knew nothing about Mad Max and came in after the title, you would have had no idea it was supposed to be "his" movie. She had all the agency, was doing heroic things for heroic reasons- he was just along for the ride. And don't get me started on Star Wars...

But, their contribution has largely been, in different and complimentary ways! The 'equality' 'these' activists are pushing is, totally false! - A lie! This propaganda, is all about women, in particular, having dominance over men, (and sometimes girls as well), since, overall - it is about the female side of life, having complete power, prominence, and dominance! - IE. " as though being a strong and powerful masculine character is better than Beauty and maintaining intimate connections of our private realm..." I really appreciate your work in clarifying why these two categories should remain distinct. This really made more stark, the terrifying potential of a world void of feminine qualities. Quick question (if you ever have time, I know youre a busy guy): I heard JBP have trouble answering the question of what is the female analog to Christ the son. Because he referred to the great mother and great father archetypes which are composed of the devouring chaos and alert creation and tyranny and Order, respectively (i think), but didn't have an answer for this modern conception of a feminine figure that could be on par with Christ or at least the archetypal son that mediates between is archetypal mother and father to update the state. I feel that feminism is often taken much too far, but I am struggling to understand where to draw that line because I was raised by women and empathize greatly with a general tendency to dismiss their intellect and creative ability more so than men. But perhaps my experience is atypical
@Ailer
@Ailer 5 жыл бұрын
The feminine archetypal equivalent to the son is obviously the daughter (or maiden, or sister, etc.) She is a figure of innocence and purity (as well as naivety...) that you find more in myth and faerie tale than within biblical stories - Characters like Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty are pretty good examples of the archetype. Similar to how the Mono-myth/Heroes journey mirrors the journey from boyhood to manhood, the maidens journey mirrors how girls become women... which is to say it's largely a series of internal (this isn't the right word... "outside of their control?") forces working on her that she has to come to terms with, rather than the external forces of the "Hunter/Son/Hero" archetype. In order for women to have their "intellect and creative ability" be considered on par with men, this archetype has to largely be forgotten - you don't have naive and innocent people do your planning or work because to be effective they have to stop being innocent and pure. What we lose is the redemptive power of the archetype: Whereas the "Christ" archetype redeems us all, the "Maiden" archetype redeems a single lost soul.

should also be noted that the feminine life cycle is very different than the masculine. the stages are very distinct- maiden>mother>crone/matriarch (think menopause and a sudden infusion of testosterone). i think what we see happening in the culture is a failure to create a 'crone' archtype, which is heavily characterized by a switch to a more 'masculine' role (though generally internally rather than externally, family and community rather than necessarily state and country). we have pretty overused archtypes for the first two stages, which is what people, including Jonathan in this vid, generally refer to, beauty, innocence, care, motherhood, etc, but falter heavily when delineating the last stage, largely because it's confusing to do so without just pasting 'man' archetypes on the feminine. but, this is exactly what we see the culture doing, taking a shortcut to the 'crone' stage by placing masculine tropes in with the earlier stages of maiden and mother. but thats not to say there arent some good ones floating around out there. galadriel is pretty great as it combines the first two stages in manifesting the third without defaulting to the masculine, as jonathan pointed out. and keeping with the themes of the vid, baba and her sister in 'spirited away' when viewed as separated aspects of a single archetype could be viewed as the crone. nausicaa and the valley of the wind plays a good dynamic between nausicaa's father, the king, and the cultural leader, the medicine woman, as the dynamic between the final stages of the masculine and feminine archtypes (as well as nausicaa herself, who, tho taking on some masculine aspects, generally solves the problems of her world thru the use of the feminine, care, compassion, etc., which i think strikes a really good balance for a 'whole' woman, one thats integrated both her masculine and feminine characteristics without loosing either one or being overwhelmed by a favourance for overt power). princess mononoke has some very interesting feminine archetypes as well, and plays with that line of integrating the masculine without directly pasting the fem over a typically masculine character. but yes, they'r out there, just hard integrating them, and i'm assuming that some of that difficulty is coming from the cultures characterizations of the feminine having outlasted its usefulness by the time the crone stage happens (or more generally, an obsession with youth for everyone, though we do have an easier time imaging the oldman/king than the oldwoman/crone/queen). i dont think its that creativity or intellect are masculine components, but that the typical way we imagine them is within a masculine context. intellect is not 'masculine', but logic and abstract reasoning might be considered that masculine aspect of 'intellect'. again, we fail to distinguish how these things might operate within a feminine context and in the process 'overbrand' it with masculine tropes. not much more creative than birthing a human, as a very blunt example lol. one way to see this is that its the masculine role to manifest 'content' and the feminine to manifest 'context'. the masculine creates a plethora of ideas, most of them shit with a few golden ones hiding in there, and the role of the feminine is largely in 'selecting' and 'manifesting'. only 1 sperm out of millions (billions?) makes it to the egg, and the feminine is that which 'selects' among those millions and then is tasked with making it 'real'. this process could be considered to be happening within a single person as well, how each of our masculine and feminine properties work synergistically to move from the abstract to the real, and where those energies are best spent. edit: also, as far as 'feminine' intellect - jonathan here could be seen as a great example, and even perhaps as a sign of what he commonly points out, an inversion of the roles. the context in which he uses his intellect is decidedly feminine, focusing on story/narrative (context) and a more intuitive bend than pure abstract reasoning and logic. this is archtypally the role of the feminine, tho again, to oversimplify the situation into 'this is what a man should b doing and this what a woman should do' is not very useful, where the vision of integrating both into a whole person made of masc and fem i think leads to healthier expressions in the individual and thus in society.

@adhara You and I have very different understandings of the crone. While there are paths from mother-hood to hag-hood, most mothers do not stop being mothers simply due to menopause. The crone is... separate. Like the hermit/sage, she has a calling that draws her to the edge of society. The attempt to bring the crone into the center instead of having her on the edge may very well be part of the situation being presented in this video.

I don't have this all figured out. But, I think an aspect of the transition from girl to women/mother that is neglected is: that it is different from boys to men in important ways. The boy needs to interact with the rest of the world/chaos/adventure in order to become aware of of his strength and lose his innocence... it has to be an active thing kinda... aiming... pursuing... willingly accepting challenge/difficulty. Whereas, the girl's loss of innocence is in pursuit of her... it is in her growing realization of the power contained within receptivity. It is in the real danger of just Being. Maturity is put on women by nature due to the inherent risks and challenges of being a woman. Maturity can be avoided by men if their social structure or their self neglects development. This isn't to say all women are mature.... I'm talking about what I keep thinking in regards to the similiarities and differences between the male and females hero myths. I think women's myth is more complex, deeper, darker and there is good reason for that.

Wonderful insight. You’ve identified a very troubling pattern within western civilization and an honest person will be unable to disagree with your perspective. I’ve been saying for years that the removal of Christ’s Mother from her place of honor in the West has greatly contributed to our society’s malformation of the feminine. For thousands of years our daughters would see the ideal feminine displayed on a daily basis in the face of Mary. They saw this in our icons, statues, stained glass and carvings. The virtues of motherhood, humility, purity, obedience and faith were in full display, and it profoundly shaped the value system of the West, keeping our culture “right side up”.

@Emma Boyd I love how he put obedience as a positive female trait. He doesn't mean what he said as positive, in any way. The current hierarchy is dominated by a tyrannical patriarchy. One generation ago and you would not have been able to vote because you're a women. We have problems in our society, and it has NOTHING to do with Wonder woman threatening Johnathans masculinity.

mathew hill one generation ago? The 1980’s women couldn’t vote? That’s the problem with your generation, you have no idea what you’re talking about. Women have had the vote for a century...that’s 5 generations.

mathew hill obedience is a positive thing, being obedient to authority means that the world is not in chaos, of course that authority also has to be not completely controlling.

I see; the blame Chritianity route. Desoite the Bible never once saying that men were superior and even implying the Men respected women and supported them while women pretty much do the same back, it does say that women should follow their husbands decisions but that has more to do with how men are wired it does notmean that men are superior but that men and women have difference roles, being a leader does not make you any more superior as a person, it just means just that you are to take the lead.
