I found this song last year while was I looking for Symphonic Suite but typed Overture for some reason? But that opening statement made me want to hear the whole piece. Needless to say, Barnes is now one of my favorite composers! My band director even let us play a song by him for MPA! (Variants on a Moravian Hymm). I love his whimsical and grandiose style of composing, and all of the instruments in his pieces have challenging but very enjoyable parts! An amazing work by an amazing composer!

6:49 to 7:57. I love this overture and the way James Barnes wrote the recapitulation

Managed to find this beautiful song whilst searching for another Symphonic Overture by Charles Carter. I am amazed at TKWO`s musicality in this piece, and the main themes, as they beautify each other.

We did this piece for our school symphonic band and it was much shorter than this, but essentially the same as far as key and melody. This is absolutely brilliant, by the way.

we're playing this for our grade 12's graduation, I play clarinet and I have NO idea how I'm going to play that long run after the soft section.
I played the tenor sax solo in college .... it was too short ... I wish I played alto that year! Love this arrangement!

It sounds like it definitely could be there: the style of music is very similar to Crescent Moon Dance, and the oboe and euphonium solos...

I do not think it sound audio, tkwo is very professional in his recordings and many of them simply take away the applause. Not for nothing have 300 cds. As an example look at the link I put in the video description.

listen to symphonic overture by koninklijke militare kapel on the album Portait of James Barnes. It makes TKWO sound like a high school band.

@@Bootifulbouncybodacious I love tokyo kosei too bro..... its probably my favourite wind orchestra. But for symphonic overture, you have to listen to KMK playing it. I have a copy of the recording on my channel if you scroll all the way down through my video. Listen to it and then judge again.
@Bootifulbouncybodacious3 ай бұрын
@@foodmore yeah I took a listen, I’m ngl their trumpets sound amazing and arguably a little better than Tkwo, but I think the woodwinds just knock it out of the park for me. Also, I think the recording audio for tkwo is a little better so the comparison might be unfair. Also, this is the only recording of symph. Overture I’ve ever really listened to so I’m definitely biased. Regardless, both of the renditions are amazing to listen to, thanks for the recommendation💪💪

This piece is so beautiful but i honestly didn't like the sound of the oboe harmonising the woodwinds starting from letter 7 and onwards plus with the cut time allegro vivo..
@trumpettromba12 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry but I think that recording is far too rough compare to Japanese's. And the sound and lines of Japanese is more fine and pure.
@trumpettromba12 жыл бұрын
Shouldn't be? Live should be.... or do you mean it was fined before uploading it? But I heard a Japanese trumpeter playing live... he did really play as fine as recording! Or maybe search some more videos about Toyko Wind Orch!!!

Japanese bands are technical excellent but it sounds very robotic. KMK's rendition is so much more powerful and dynamic. TKWO sounds like they are playing along with a metronome.
