A discussion about the symptoms of tuberculosis (TB) and why this condition is still a very important problem today. It is very important to be able to diagnose TB early and knowing the symptoms can help.
I also explain the concept of latent TB infection and the relationship between the immune system and tuberculosis.

Thank you doctor this information helped us a lot. 🙏🏽 My wife got sign of inactivie TB in a test. Actually she is going to abroad on next month therefore there was a necessary medical examine and they found out inactive TB. I understood what you said doctor but please tell us is there any specific check up prices we need to do ?

Does active TB always firstly need to begin in the lungs though? Or could someone still have TB infection e.g in lymph nodes, without lungs being affected?

It is probably unlikely due to the fact that you breath in the disease

Hi Dr, I have a question I was diagnosed with tuberculosis when I was around 20 years old but in from Mexico and I heard that when we get the vaccine, is the actual virus on the shot I had X-rays and has been negative, about 12 years ago I developed a skin condition and I’m wondering if this has anything to do with it , my skin gets a really itchy reaction to humidity and my skin get like a chill reaction and gets extremely itchy I’m living a really miserable life because of this please help ! 😢

What other diseases could show the same symptoms as TB. My husband has not been in contact with TB, but have been a welder for about 50 years?

Thankyou doctor. One quick question, how long can latent tuberculosis stay positive (in quantiferon gold plus test) in your body before it is completely cleared? Can you still have latent tb after 15 years of being exposed? (Living in the same house with 2 smear positive tb mdr family members one of whom died 15 years ago and the other apparently cured of the disease)

@@cghrios783 I got quantiferon gold plus test and mantoux both came negative. My wife had quantiferon gold plus and mantoux test positive. We went to see the best pulmonologist but he said it's latent and doesn't need to be treated since we are from a country where almost one third of the population has latent TB and therefore he didn't treat it. He said if we wanted to travel abroad only then need treatment. Only about 4 to 10% develope active tb at some point in their lives, he said. So we just came back. The reason we got tested was because of multiple misscariages btw. But according to him and 10 other doctors tb supposedly had nothing to do with it.

TB is actually one of the few conditions in medicine that is curable. Just requires taking the correct medication for a fairly long time, but in the vast majority of cases this results in a cure.
