Just managed to get this working for PC. The documentation was inconsistent with the video so if you're wondering what your config file should look like, here's an example: mode=gui music.library.filesystem=C:/Users/Joe/Music/MyFolder music.library.itch=C:/Users/Joe/Music/_Serato_ Somebody get this guy a beer!!

Years later and still works! Got it up and running. Specs... OSX 10.10.5/ScratchLive 2.5.0. & Serato DJ 1.7.8.

Just used it. I was stuck in translation (my own idiocy) when I was clicking wrong file but now it is working a charm. Haven't had this ability in years. Your video clearly explains it to a T!

After a rough start, I finally got it going. Just had to play a little bit with the coding and I was on my way.

it took me about 2hrs and reading all 14 pages of comments to finally figure this thing out... but it works and i am very HAPPY!!!! Thank you software creator.... i almost gave up!

@SeratoTutor I finally got it working on my Windows XP system. Pointers for windows install: 1. Change "gui" in the file to "cmd" 3.Ensure that you use "\\" for all the directories within the file 2. Make sure you save the file as type "All Files"

just tried this with serato dj version 1.9.6, running a 2009 macbook pro. for those of you who are trying to make it work, this is what i did. also, as a note, i have 2 internal hard drives. one SSD for boot up, and an internal 1 tb for storage. the main issue i found with getting everything working is that the code to put into terminal to make the java file work had the quotation marks that needed to be removed. example was this: ''' mode - gui vs. cmd mode=gui path to your personal music collection music.library.filesystem=/Volumes/Mac Internal/Music/Songs path to your serato library music.library.itch=/Volumes/Mac Internal/Music/_Serato_''' So to make it work, I simply removed the 3 quotation marks in the beginning and end and everything worked, and it looked like this: mode - gui vs. cmd mode=gui path to your personal music collection music.library.filesystem=/Volumes/Mac Internal/Music/Songs path to your serato library music.library.itch=/Volumes/Mac Internal/Music/_Serato_

Ok Guys this was a headache and i know how it feels to not have any help from anyone about this issue but this is what worked for me. For the latest SeratoDJ 1.7.8 + Template: Notice the single space between Dubz (the main HDD name) and DJ Dubz Library (the library folder name). Also make sure you type all names exactly like they look in the HDD even if they have spaces. follow the above step and see if that helps: Good luck fellas! # path to your personal music collection (do the same with the next scrip line for serato Dubz /_Serato_ music. library. filesystem=/Volumes/Dubz /DJ Dubz Library ^ single space ^ single space !KZfaq removes the underscores on "Serato" example so don't forget that!

Yo Todd...this is the most useful channel on youtube for ssl tutor...Thank You for all of your lessons...them pretty useful...If you can do me a fav and reply I would appriciate it...I tried doing everything for the sync tool and I get the same message as most of the guys that tried it out...one thing I dont understand is when I save the txt file to .properties it does not ask me the question that asks you on the video which is "you have used the extension ".properties " at the end of the name..

How do i Transfer my file crates from the older version of Serato SL 1 1.8 version to the newer version 2.5? i see the info in Serato backup files however how do i get the files and info i see to function and keep its order of Music information? without me having to do it all over again?

@SeratoTutor I ran into the same problem and found the fix. When I "saved as" there was a box checked "if no extension is provided, use ".txt". I ran it three times and got the same error. I unchecked that box, resaved and then ran and it worked. I watched your video several times and never saw you do that but it worked for me....good luck!

Clicking on the .jar files after setting up the whole thing give me an error stating that "To use the "java -jar itch-sync-0_1_4.jar," command-line tool you need to install a JDK. Which brings me to this site for java: www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html Did that, and now give me this error: Unable to load config file 'itch-sync.properties' Error occurred. Please inspect the main window with logs for details.  *EDIT* Looking at the the notes on this .jar file (last released 26 Sep 2010 v0.1.4), I don't this this works with Java 8 update 11 which is what I have. Last noted it supported Java 1.5 & 1.6 - just a thought due to the errors I've been getting trying to make this thing work...

Ive been obsessed with organizing my music through folders and it has finally paid off. fyi windows users: 1st problem i encountered was my itch-sync.properties file was still a .txt. you have to "save as type: all files" 2nd problem: i used my directory path music.library.filesystem=H:\Music which at first didn't work, but i added a double slash and it worked H:\\Music

I have followed your tutorial to the letter. I get the following message: "Scanning media library /lacie/tunes/techno/panorama... Unable to find any supported files in your media library directory. Are you sure you specified the right path in the config file?" Am I missing something? Yes, there is music in those folders. Yes, I have already checked to see of they load in Serato without the sync tool, they do.

I have problem with one of my I-Macs. after running the script it creates extra crates under my created crate (.wdmc) under that one creates one more (transcoded_files) under that one creates one more create with a bunch text and numbers(d312a08dat7d42......)

using os x 10.10, with an external HD.. the path is really short /Toshiba/Music Master and /Toshiba/_Serato_. used txt edit w/ plain txt saved as properties saved both to desktop and nothing.... says scanning library and unable to find supported files...tracks are all mp3's....also says inspect main window with log details..... if using mac try unticking save as .txt in the save as properties else it appends .txt on the end

Hello Mr Tutor, you showed us a video on how to do this on a mac, but can you make another video and show us step by step on how to do it on a PC? I've tried the steps that you are showing us in the video on a PC and it's not working.

Does this program overwrite existing Serato crates? I have some songs that belong to multiple crates but only exist in one windows location. What will effect will it have on existing crates and songs that belong to multiple crates? Will it simply mirror the windows dj folder? Or will it add crates and sync with the Windows Folder layout, and keep the pre-existing crates and song allocations intact?

For those having issues trying to run it in windows, try installing java 1.5. Mine didn't work until that. Then use open with and use the javaw.exe (about 45 kb.) Hope this helps

Hey Todd, i was able to get it to link, but then it got stuck and froze and said some itunes thing made it crash. in my "Music" folder i have my video and main music folder separated. Do i have to have my videos in the music folder too? or can i keep the video folder out of the main music folder.. so it goes user/music/mp3 and user/music/videos

I have a question I took some crates from my brothers hard drive but when I put the crates in to my sub crates and copied them it's saying "file not found" it still has his hard drive tags at the bottom of serato. How can I get his crates to recognize on my serato. The crates are on my serato and music but it's in yellow so I need to relocate files I'm need help.

I guess my thing is I don't want a crate for all my folders I just want it to look at specific folders and proliferate its own crates

It worked better with (Sierra) files were arranged in alphabetical order while with (High Sierra) they are in the mess

I use my friends laptop who already has his crates set up. If I use this script, will it delete his, or just replicate my folder structure as my crates?

Works in Serato DJ 1.6.3 with some modifications, it's VERY touchy though, and doesn't work every time even though I have the same itch-sync.properties file, don't know why, don't give up, it should work EVENTUALLY! Great video btw!
