TIP: Dont go from the face to a shadowmane, only go from the back/tail. If you go from the face/front it will wake up and reset the tame

Hey syntac did you check the ceiling of the map above your bed? The hawk may have tried to land in the water after dropping your bag and glitched upwards instead of landing

This happened to me as well when I was using this trap, I believe it has smth to do with me approaching the mane close to his head, at his back-ish rear. The solution was to not use fence gates as the mane can see you when you approach, but rather use walls, you will still be able to feed it through it

Hint:Also check the water in the Abberation cave by the terminal. That is where I caught my fish. If you haven't killed any fish there they should be big and easy to catch sins the water is really shallow. 😁

Apparently fjordhawk sometimes (rarely) glitch when returning your bag, they can spawn at exactly 50 lat, 50 lon... Might be worth a fly by on your maewing!

Theres a really simple trap that i use all the time, its literally just a 2x2 of stone foundations surrounded by 2 high walls. Lead the shadow mane in with the teleport while grappled above the trap, and it will fall in. You can then feed it through the walls (including elixer)

The best place I’ve found for fish is the aberration cave with the big purple crystals. There’s always big sabertooth salmon by the boss terminal in the back, and if there isn’t, kill them all, and when you leave the cave and come back there’s a whole new pool of them. Also, the water is so shallow it’s super easy to catch them.

TIP: You can refresh the spoil timer on the baskets by going underwater with them on your hot bar

Your Shadowmane woke up for the night. They will reset when it becomes night. You have to watch the time. Best time to start the tame is 6am in Asgard. Hope this helps.

You can pick fish baskets back up, even if there's a fish next to it. On PS4, just hold triangle to get the options instead of tapping triangle to trap the fish.

I used the Dino Fix mod to make the fish breedable. I bred 2 fish that were 1.5 or 1.6 and the baby came out below 1. So, even if you could breed them, you still have to get lucky with the size

The fish grind is real. I spent about a month hunting enough fish to tame the 3 max level shadowmanes I found on my map. Just tamed them on sunday though!

Really the hardest part in taming shadowmanes is finding those big fishes, usually takes me a couple of hours just for a single shadowmane. Of course that is if you're into high levels and stats.

You can leave them in a cage and when the spoil timer gets low just put the cage on your hotbar and submerge yourself under water. That refreshes the spoil timer to max.

Taming shadowmanes was the closest I've been to frustration crying in a while.

Going for 1.4 fish or above is generally good enough for official, for quick taming without losing much taming at all. I tend to just go 1.3, as I can tell the difference between a "small" and "large" 1.3 fish. The elixir helps so much as well, and I tend to catch a surplus of fish each time (and then just use the surplus at some time for a "free" tame).

I still think you should be able to craft a large fish tank in the fabricator to be able to farm coelacanth and salmon. They could have big round ones like real life in the regular industrial tier and then they could make a tall rectangular one that you can see through the side of in the Tek tier

Hey Syntac you can use the Admin dino recover from soulBall mod to find your birb and place him in your inventory. It will work if your hawk was Soulballed. Not sure if you want to do that.

To tame a shadowmane you approach from behind (being too close to the head wakes it up) sneaking whilst wearing ghillie, cactus broth can help too but isn't normally needed! They're a little tricky/tedious to tame but are well worth it for how great they are; plus they have such a cool design I love them

Depends on settings i guess. 0.5 works too.. We used mainly 1.2 - 1.3. 15ish % per. Also the easy abbererant cave with the one karkinos has some good fish.

Your hawk is probably stuck to the ceiling/wall of the map you left. As they're all "below" Midgard, they try to get home the shortest route possible.

Get ready syntac making shadowmanes mutated in series soon!(everytime syn make a series that had shadowmanes he proceed make a overpowered freaking super saiyan version of it) Anyways they are so fustraiting tames.

My favorite skin with the ghillie is the inflatable rex costume because its supposed to allow you to sneak around dinosaurs, basically a quiet armor set but the skin makes the most noise, thats what gets me.

Hey Syntac! Use Walls instead of doorframes xD You can feed through the walls and less chance of it seeing you. However, if its like a thing that you prefer to use door frames for the thrill. Love your videos :D

Kraken's Better Dinos mod allows you to breed sabertooth salmon. The chance of getting a 2.0 fish though is still very low so it takes a lot of time (I use identical rates as you, literally copy pasted your .ini file). You probably don't want to add another mod mid series but maybe another time.

Syn, if u have trouble finding fish, go to the ferox cave. itll be a little difficult to clear the cave, but the little lake at the middle of the cave has tons of sabertooth salmons. i usually get 1 per every cave clear

Hey syntac if u decide to tame feroxs on this map u have to use the elixir as the last thing for the ferox as it doesn't keep the 30 percent from it when transforming

The Shadowmane can only be Tamed between 08:00 and 18:00 or 20:00 and after this time It wake up constantly and annoying you😂🫶

If your able to I would recommend cactus broth as it makes you extra hidden. Makes the tame less stressful

I live in the purple lagunes and boy is it a challenge with all those shadowmanes...

There is a trap that can be used that you don't need to wear ghillie armor or move away from it more than once to tame. It does use more structures tho. The one move away is just to remove the aggro.

I’m not sure if I’m missing something but just clear the area and full sprint away after every feed seems to work perfectly fine for me. They won’t aggro for quite a few seconds after feed and crouching while maintaining ~50meters is close enough to feed in time and far enough to crouch walk away when they decide to wander in my direction.I tamed about 10 shadowmanes like this and the only time I got attacked was when it went to sleep when I got distracted and approached too late it woke up on my face. They’re pretty broken too, got myself a batch of imprinted 43/46 manes and they absolutely shredded alpha Broodmother and Alpha monkey,

You made hard work of that, use a 2x2 box with 2 high walls (not doorframes) and a ramp to kite it in or you can drop it in with a quetz, once it's in leave render for a bit so it loses aggro then all you need to do is wait for it to fall asleep and feed it wherever it's head clips through the wall, can wear any armour and don't need bug repellent, very easy tame

Hey syn, in the future, go to the abberrent cave down by where the karkinos spawns, easier too trap and it is only abberrent salmon spawn, there is lampreys tho

For taming speed of 3x and above every fish above 1x is good enough u won't lose any levels if ur using the elixir, if not u'll lose 1level. In terms of fish locations i strongly suggest going for the ferox cave put 5-7 baskets in a row and aggro the salmon and go in a straight line spamming E. The easiest way i found to actually tame them is to make a 2x2 trap with solid walls and a ramp to get the Shadowmane in or u can try to make it tp to u while ur above the trap, once it's in the trap leave the render distance and pray that it will lose aggro since these things are really buggy. With solid walls u don't need ghillie anymore and using the elixir is way more consistent, i had a lot of problems with the trapping method Syntac is using in this video, it took me 3 real days to realize that the Shadowmane was aggroed to the fence foundation and it wouldn't go to sleep and sometimes they escaped the trap, maybe it's just user error but the 2x2 trap with 2high walls had the most consistent results for me. Hopefully this comment helped somebody and save their time and mental heath.

You should use cactus broth along with the ghillie suit it makes you almost invisible

You can breed sabertooth salmon. I caught a bunch to tame a shadow mane. But ended up just letting them wonder around in the pond my base. Eggs started showing up and baby sabes were hatching lol.

My fjordhawk did the same thing, I ended up finding him flying in the air about 50 feet from where I respawned

Hi syntac when the same fjordhawk glitch happened to my my hawk spawned about 200m away from me so just look everywhere also on your ocean plat bridges

With the shadowmane taming, you can't approach it from in front of them where they can see you. I think the trap works so well because when it's sleeping and its head pokes through, the doorframe bugs it out and prevents it from actually seeing you. But if its head goes through the actual doorway, it can, like what happened in the vid. I've done my fair share of shadowmane testing but never used a trap, maybe I should give the Syntac special a whirl.

There is a small pond of water near a small waterfall where there is alot of sabertooth salmons in fjordur

not sure if this is well known but: if you place a fish basket in your hotbar than the timer will reset every time you enter a body of water deep enough for you to swim in.

Syntac, you should really use Krakens for the fish and turn everything else off. I specifically use Krakens for the fish breeding. It's so much less of a headache with Shadowmaines.

When I "fast travel" with my Fjordhawk, it will just fly to the edge of my base somewhere. I try to spawn somewhere with walls now so I can catch it.

My hawk always runs away. I usually find him by checking in the smallest nooks and cranny corners of my base. For some reason even with their names turned on and the arrows the Hawks are very sneaky
