That's a pretty accurate description of those guys/that team, Billy. It's a rarity for me to miss a Cuse game and am fortunate in having seen that team play every home game, as well as a few away. The epic Hopkins battle you mention was the 89 title game. I went to Homewood to watch the opener for both teams that year, Hopkins beat 'em 14-13, their only loss in three years. The NC game was 13-12, Cuse (of course). A 26-26 tie combined score. The NC game was pretty much a repeat of the opener but not nearly as many saw that one. I think the 88-90 team(s) were the best I've ever seen. Magical, the Gaits (Tommy too) brought a whole new definition to lacrosse.

Yeah thank goodness I played before all the rule changes. I graduated in 2011 and back in the early 2000s, our youth coaches taught us to play fast and as a unit which will allow for even faster play. The hitting in today's game is just sad. I remember reading the rules change for that back in 2014. They also will call a slash on just about anything now. Unfortantly I grew up in that era but the refs let us play. I feel like they don't tolerate when the ball is in the ground. Team's don't take pride in ground ball pickups and refs have a short fuse for loose ball pushes/digging to regain possession. Imo the game is faster than ever but the rules have drastically dictated how teams have to play now. Lax use to be a thing of beauty, you could face a soccer player, football player, track stars or a hockey player. Everyone could help bring something diff to the team
