Wow! I can't believe the neighborhood and house that I was born in ( 2:57 minute mark ) is considered the "hood" now. My mom and my Grandfather b. 1902 were also born in that house. I delivered the paper to many houses in that neighborhood and shoveled dozens of the driveways to earn money. I learned to swim at a park you passed by, also at the 3:27 mark was the location of the old North? prison, the site of the last public hanging in Syracuse. Although the area is much more racially diverse as many of your viewers have noticed, the homes are still being kept up. I subscribed to your channel about a year ago and enjoy your content. Please keep up the good work CharlieBo313!

Having begun life there, I quickly recognized this as part of the N.Side of Syracuse; the drive down Pond St (where I lived for the first 5 years) was fun to see. Many changes, in demographics & conditions, of course, as with much of the city. I mostly lament the loss of some of the older community institutions, like the parish centers and businesses which were longer-lived parts of the fabric. But though I haven't lived in Syracuse for many years, I still think of it fondly.

CharlieBo313, yeah that's the Northside which has it's rough parts but you need to go to the Westside and Southside. I would also recommend Schenectady, NY. Hamilton Hill, Hamilton Hill going towards Downtown, Mont Pleasant are usually the roughest parts. Utica, NY Is also a suggestion, pretty much every spot there is hood now too. In Utica I would say Corn Hill is probably still the one of the roughest areas. I've grown up in and out of Syracuse and Schenectady. Have had a taste of the hood growing up but, thank God that I have had most of my time being raised in the small towns and country. But at least I was able to experience all environments and cultures growing up. Still visit the Cities every once in a while. Folks like us have a broadened spectrum of all environments and culture. It would be pretty cool to see you go to these cities 😎✌️

Who's that snowballing rascal at 8:28? I was last in Syracuse in 1998 in and around the Carrier Dome for a football game. I found the area to be depressing (similar to its neighbor Buffalo, where I spent some time in 1997). The areas shown here don't look quite as bad as what I recall, but I guess people put their stake in the ground and, if the factory is still running and your family is in the area, then, you've got it all.

This is actually a way nicer part of Syracuse and even there you be lucky if they bring their trash out instead of throwing all over the yards and road let alone shoveling the sidewalks. Most places are rented n slum lords don't give af plus Police to busy dealing with stabbings, robberies, shoot outs, drug dealers n users scheming all day n night. If they can stop some violence or an overdose they happy. Drugs gotten way worse in just the last 10 years even. Used to have a spot in every side of the city but now the shots everywhere. You literally can't go to corner store without someone trying borrow a dollar or bum a cig, let alone being offered molly, crack, heroin, spice, just infested.

So nobody cleans the streets so the kids have a safe place to walk. I miss home but one thing I can say, where I live They make sure the streets and sidewalks are clean and shoveled for kids and ppl to walk...

Doesn't even look very bad to me honestly. Maybe it's just because I'm from Detroit but still... Don't look too bad. It's funny right towards the end of the video there is finally an abandoned building and he makes a point of readjusting the camera to point right at it.

It actually has quite a few abandoned buildings, there's more than that one in this video.

CharlieBo313 Yes, there are some, but that area has also seen some investment in parts. Some more is slated for the area too. There have been some fires that play a part in that as well. Holla at me next time you are in the ‘Cuse. I’ll give you the low down of the hoods, good, bad or indifferent.

At least in the hoods of Syracuse, they know how to plow the streets....a lot better than Hartford, New Britain, Meriden, Waterbury and countless other cities here in Connecticut!!!

If you think Syracuse is a scary dangerous city you haven't had a very hard life. This is coming from someone from Ottawa canada where's its safe as heaven and I've been to a couple cities with high crime rates and Syracuse is the least of em.
