Күн бұрынThe Lord's Prayer (Abun D'Bashmayo). Beautifully sung in the language Jesus Christ taught his disciples this exact prayer. Read the english text and the syriac transcription. View beautiful pictures of praying christians, for example syrian orthodox, coptic orthodox and ethiopian orthodox.
The prayer is produced by St. Peter & Pauls Syriac Orthodox Church in Sweden. All music is composed and arranged by Abdo Remmo Inci.

Some of you have asked why the Lord's prayer in Syriac/Aramaic mostly starts with "Hallowed be Thy name"/"Nethqadash Shmokh". During the Divine Liturgy the Lord's prayer is preceded by a prayer that the celebrant (Bishop or Priest) prays. The celebrant (or if someone with higher rank than the celebrant is present) is the one saying "Our Father who art in heaven"/"Abun d-ba-Shmayo" and the deacons, choir and attendants joins in from "Hallowed be Thy name". I have posted the prayer that precedes the Lord's Prayer during Liturgy here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mMh2pseVzcnPo6c.htmlsi=JemhmB_7NYpV6kmV That's the reason why many renderings starts with "Hallowed be Thy name". The faithful should, of course, start with "Our Father" when praying the Lord's Prayer without clergy present.

Hi, I am from Brazil, and trying to learn some aramaic, what is not that easy for us. :) In this prayer I noticed that 3 words are mentioned, but I didnt find it on the Peshitta (Matay 5:9-15) . One of them is easy to understand, the Amin. Obviuosly a closing after the prayer itself. The other 2 words are "l'wahtohayn" (verse 12, just after ܚܘܒܝܢ), and this "lan", just after ܦܨܢ in verse 13. Is is a tradition/liturgy issue as well, or I am looking to a different version? Thank you!

It's hard to memorize the words, but, being an Englis teacher (a long time ago), I try and it's more real than latin; Too bad we were not taught at least one or two sentences in arameic; Such a beautiful prayer. Peace to you all for Easter.

God does not see religion,religion is purely a man made concept used to separate man and has caused conflict between humanity for thousands of years. i have no religion i just worship God i respect all his prophets of times past and i acknowledge Jesus as the messiah, i do not go to churches or temples to worship for my body is my temple because i know gods divine love and heavenly kingdom resides in me and all of Gods children . i anoint my self in holy oil before prayer and i feel Gods presence stronger then i did when i labeled myself with religion and went to church.

I have always loved to read, hear and sing The Lord's Prayer in English, and I always begin my prayers with it. I just recently discovered how spiritually powerful it is in Aramaic, the mother language of Jesus Christ. Since Jesus told us this is how we are to pray God's Prayer, Imo, it must be powerful in any language, but none more beautiful than Aramaic. I don't know what they are saying, but I know every time I hear it, it washes my soul with tears....every time. :)

Beautiful! I think I have heard The Lord's Prayer in Syriac before in my church. I'm from the orthodox church (Syrian) in India. We usually read the prayer in our native language. We remember Syria in our prayers.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL...I was raised in an Antiochian church and I always heard the Lord's prayer in Greek and English. But i always yearned for the original aramaic. This is truly a blessing for me and an answer from God. A true blessing..AWESOME..THANKYOU FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL VIDEO...PEACE AND GOD BLESS FROM AN ANTIOCHIAN IN THE US.
