SOAD is a metal band, not emo at all. Their songs are about how the government and the media abuse their power to control us and how society suffers because of that and because of them. Chop Suey sort of argues that his suicide is self righteous given that many people say that it is a very egotistical thing to do.

Not a lot of people realize how emo the original actually is. It's a song about suicide and how people view it. It's a beautiful song when you can relate and to cover it as an emo style just does it so much freaking justice. Well played.

I like how you borrowed from every aspect of emo and made the song like actually emo instead of what a lot of people who do this do. You have that classic midwest emo + melodic hardcore elements, the emo pop vocals, screams that sound a lot like Oli Sykes from Bring Me, and the good old fashion palm mutes. Every aspect of this is perfect

When I first saw the title I thought it read “Chop Suey- But it’s super Mario emo”. I was confused, perplexed, and filled with excitement. So I must say, as phenomenal as this cover is, AND IT IS, I’m somehow disappointed that this doesn’t sound like what I thought it was going to, even though I have no idea what “super Mario emo” would sound like, and now I can’t stop thinking about what this song would sound like if it were what I thought it was.

Just stumbled upon this absolute gem. First of all, i never expected Chop Suey to fit this style this much. Secondly, the production is amazing! And last but not least, i was so worried that the last chorus was gonna be lackluster due to how difficult it is to sing and convey the emotion and you DID NOT disappoint! I love the second verse. Reverting to the original pace and tone makes it feel much more impactful and emotional compared to the slower first verse. And the voice break on the keys was perfect.

One of my all time favourite songs, covered perfectly. Im learning drums so of course Chop Suey is right up there for songs I want to learn. But I now also want to learn THIS version too as the drum part looks super fun to play as well - and so clean and right! As others have said, you nailed so many important parts of emo but not in a way that made it a farce. This slaps. And of course the subtitles omg 😂

gotta say i stumbled upon this and at first i thought well its ok, its different at least then just a 1:1 cover or just acoustic - but jfc your arrangement at the end, taking it down a notch when the "forsaken me" starts, the screams starting to bleed into your clean voice ("in your heart" indeed, i felt that deep) makes the last chorus slap so fucking hard...huge respect and please do more of my fav songs of my youth in your unique style! also, this is all made to look like haha its just parody emo don't judge me but dude i can tell that you love it and you should, its awesome (but i also like the comedic part of it 😂)

ive been going thru the hardest breakup ive ever gone thru in my life lately and my ex was also emo so i havent really been able to listen to a lot of my favourite bands lately because it just hurts too bad considering they're all their favourite bands too. but these covers give me the fix i need of that classic emo sound, while also being something i never really associated with my ex so i can actually still listen to these. thanks todd
