I don't really know how to explain it. I feel like the way Japan classifies things is different from the way the rest of the world classifies things. In Japan, it is not earthenware. They are not stone tools either. This clay contains a lot of petalite and has the property of not breaking even when cooked over a fire!

この大きさを玉づくり！紐を足したのは淵の部分だけですか？

はい。縁のところを足しただけで、そこまでは最初に用意した土玉を伸ばして作ったものです。この大きさの作品を玉づくりで作るのは難しいので、通常は紐づくりが一般的だと思います。 ^_^ だいたい手のひらに収まる大きさ、湯呑み、カップ、飯碗、小鉢程度までの大きさが、無理なく玉づくりで出来る範囲だと思います。
