I'll never forget how awesome it was to see Pimp C back when this song first dropped. Even though I didn't become a fan of UGK until around a maybe year before he was released from jail, he was already probably my 2nd favorite southern rapper after Andre 3000. The fact that he didn't show up in the video until his verse came on made it seem like an even bigger deal.

T.I. said this song was originally just him and Bun B as Pimp C was locked up when they did this record. Right before the album was turned in, Pimp C got out, so it was a mad dash to get his verse in. T.I. also said he actually has a third verse that’s still in the vaults. The original version of this song with T.I.'s third verse is on the T.I. & Dj Drama mixtape Gangsta Grillz the Leak

Im from Houston live in San Diego but Southern rap is the King it's smooth and flows I love this version of front back i cant help but start dancing n yeah TI has crisp ass moves with no effort. Plus T.I. does sometimes talks about positive shit and doesnt always glorify the the gangsta shit that isn't as glamorous in the end.

@@devinboysen Go listen to the "Down With The King" mixtape by T.I. with DJ Drama. It's the mixtape where he dissed Lil Flip on every track. He had probably 20 phone conversations recorded on that CD where he talked to Scarface, Bun, etc.. and Pimp C did a PSA at the very beginning explaining it. They were all cool with T.I. calling himself the "King of the South".
