"On the beautiful island republic of Trinidad & Tobago there lies a dark, foreboding folklore buried deep in the psyche and history of its people. Where tales of Black Magic, the Soucouyant, Duenne, La Diablesse and other macabre and mysterious occurrences remain largely hidden to the outside world, but sometimes in the rural areas and even in the city'sunderground, there are people on these islands who remain convinced of the existence of these strange phenomenons.
This documentary (now web series) charts its possible origins through revealing interviews with such academics as Professor Gordon Rholer and Professor Bridgette Brereton of the University of the West Indies, and historians Gerard Besson and Michael Anthony. Blended together with re-enactments, historical photographs and illustrations, this documentary is a must have for people seeking a deeper understanding of the culture that makes up this complex society."

It’s crazy how all of the Caribbean we had similar stories that originated at a time where there was no internet,no means of travel and lil communication between islands for slaves and indentured servants. But yet we all have similar stories.. I refuse to believe ppl were just crazy back then ,our ancestors truly saw these things.

It's a generational this passed down to beast/human to kin, old folks call it "bad book" grimoires for the spells to transform. Unfortunately I came across 3 crappy things. 'Witch, wolf with chains and half woman and cow/goat'. Those things go bump in the night

It's really based on the slave and the stories they would have told when they came... Why we deviated slightly throughout the Caribbean is due to the combining of slave stories and colonisers

i grew up in trinidad. i'm only 26 as of this date. but i saw way to much stuff to say these stuff isn't real. seeing too that i grew up on a hill. i remember one night, we were all young. saturday night so all the adults at the local bar drinking. me and about 8 other kids, including my sister/brothers and cousins- friends. were all outside liming. next thing you know, we saw like the bamboo patch caught on fire. for like 10mins straight, a big fire in the bamboo's. but everyone knew, even at that age what was happening. so everyone ran inside, who ran home. but next morning. we checked out the spot where we saw fire burning. there wasn't even a burnt leaf there..
