I had as soldier served in the NVA to a T55 Tank. I was load gunner, later a targetgunner in the 12 Tank Kompanie in learning-battle-group, Tank No. 259 in Halle. In the last half servedyear I was Tankcommander in the 11 Tank Kompanie. The T55 is a great Tank, but a hard machine. In the Winter no heating stove, in the Summer no air conditioner. In Januar a icehole with - 10 grad minus inside and in August with shooting 55 Grad plus. The load gunner had a hard job with the Grenade weight with 48Kg and loading in Standard time 7seconds. In the weekend was training for Gunloading. The drivers had in Winter freeze the hands and feet. But I see today, is was a good time for young mans for understandig what is a good living and what is a soldiers living. Today I think all young mans must served in a russion Tank in a German Army, but not in the homosexual and transgender-army of BRD. If you were a tank soldier, you come home as a sensible guy. You are happy to have dinner with mom from the porcelain plate, you will not paint house walls or pull metal parts through your nose or snout, you will be a good man. Thanks T55.... 😉🌻🌾🌻🍻🇩🇪

How do you properly start it? I’ve heard that cold starts can damage the motor and there’s only one video I know of on how to start one but they use the air bottle to start it which I’ve heard is for either emergencies or cold starts

That's what I love about older vehicles and machines. You don't need coding, electronic, and really complex computer skills and reading gadgets, all you need is a good wrench and ratchet set and some mechanics knowledge and this beauty's gonna keep running for a long time.

The T-55 is a Soviet-designed main battle tank that was widely used during the Cold War era. Starting and running a T-55 involves a series of steps. Keep in mind that operating military equipment may require proper training and authorization. Always follow safety procedures and guidelines. Here is a general outline of the process: 1. **Preparation:** - Ensure that the tank is in a suitable location for starting and running. - Check the fuel levels, engine oil, and other essential fluids. - Verify that the electrical systems are in working order. 2. **Crew Preparation:** - The crew should be properly trained in the operation of the T-55. - Wear appropriate protective gear, including helmets and other safety equipment. 3. **Entering the Tank:** - Open the crew hatches and enter the tank. - Secure the hatches after entering. 4. **Powering Up:** - Turn the main electrical power switch to the "on" position. - Activate other necessary electrical systems. 5. **Starting the Engine:** - Follow the specific starting procedure for the T-55 model you are using. This usually involves turning the ignition key or pressing a series of buttons. - Wait for the engine to start. The engine might take a few moments to warm up. 6. **Monitoring Gauges:** - Once the engine is running, monitor the various gauges to ensure that all systems are operating within normal parameters. - Check for any warning lights or abnormal readings. 7. **Driving the Tank:** - Engage the transmission and move the tank forward or backward as needed. - Familiarize yourself with the tank's controls, including the steering mechanism and throttle. 8. **Shutting Down:** - When finished, follow the proper shutdown procedure to turn off the engine. - Ensure all systems are powered down before exiting the tank. 9. **Exiting the Tank:** - Open the hatches and exit the tank safely. Remember that these steps are general guidelines, and the specific procedures may vary based on the model and modifications of the T-55. Always refer to the T-55 technical manual or consult with qualified personnel for the most accurate and up-to-date information. Operating military equipment without proper authorization and training is dangerous and strictly prohibited.

Even in modern conflict, this thing is still a VERY useful tool to have on your side. Give it a little modernisation (CMS, Thermal sight for gunner/commander, some cameras for the driver), and it is very useful on the battlefield as an infantry fire support platform. The fact that it is basically indestructible mechanically and extremely easy to operate is just a big plus. Yes, it's not very useful against modern MBTs, but it can one tap pretty much everything else out there (even the best IFVs, APCs, etc)
@Kasi112 жыл бұрын
Well, the T-55AM could fight against modern MBTs, but it would be still a bit hard.
