Break the shackles, but do not uproot from your roots...Zakir Hussain shows how music can build bridges, and how Indian music can hold its own anywhere in the world. He was perhaps one of the earliest Indian classical musicians who made tabla cool and trendy and global and so accessible to young fans. At the same time, there is so much of his illustrious father Allah Rakha in him...He has upheld the sanctity of Indian classical music and at the same time given it such an amazing makeover. Like he says here, be entrenched in your roots, but do break the shackles...Taranjiet, really enjoyed it. Thank you. I wish we had more such short films that introduced us to the music greats of our land. Look forward to your next.
