I’m brand new to wood working and just built this, literally the first thing I’ve ever made. Managed to get it right with the crap miter gauge that came with the saw, and a $10 speed square. Well… right enough haha. Made with a mix of wood from pallets and concrete molds from a build site, so the wood was all free. Wonky, but free. But it’s level and doesn’t wobble, so that’s a win! 👌

Good play with the pallet wood and left over build site materials. Repurposed wood is always a good idea.

Thanks John! I'm struggling to plan out the space I have and I never considered this kind of modular approach where I can move bits around and combine them together (like the table saw + mft). Great idea!

Simple yet very effective design. Maybe it's just me but one of the biggest reasons I subscribed to your channel is the fact that you are genuinely happy when you make stuff and your reaction to the finished product is very appealing to me, that is rarely seen nowadays 😊 At the end of the day all these things we make are supposed to make our jobs and lives easier and we should be happy about everything we make. Keep up the good work and stay safe out there!

I made four 2' by 4' work benches……one has the the tablesaw, one has the mitersaw, one is flat with a Built-in router table and the other is just a flat work table.... The work surfaces on all 4 are exactly the same size, so everything can be used as an outfit and I can lower the router blade on the router table and have 2 flat work surfaces as outfeed or infeed.....

Practical saw stand with minimum footprint. Other designs, more complicated take up too much area. Built your idea out of plywood to provide a larger storage unit beneath.

Cheap, strong, practical and nice looking. Usually it's a case of picking three. This project has all four. I know it's shop stock birch plywood (hence still cheap) but at the prices here in Australia that's $100 worth of 19mm ply in the top.

John, another wonderful presentation. This approach demonstrates the true skills of any good joiner/carpenter. That ability to plan, and build simple, but durable projects, without unnecessary complication. Conversely, the ability and skill to be able to construct cabinet quality products when called for. Just love the practical and simplistic way you deliver your videos. Keep up the good work. Len (Devon 🇬🇧)

Made a second cart for the miter saw today. Have to wait a while for my chinesium wheels. A little nicer pine ripped from some 2x8's and a little tidier construction. I see a router table cart in my future. I may very well lose my mind and build furniture for the garage one day but these are cheap, overbuilt, quick and simple.

I put one of these together this weekend for my old craftsman 113. Very sturdy. Mine isn't nearly as pretty as yours. Made out of left over 2x4 and plywood lying around in the garage. still many things left to do to turn my garage into a shop but having the saw on a rolling cart is a big step forward.

I made a much more complicated bench which had the same Bosch saw at it’s heart but used the table extensions in their extended position and filled in the resultant space to make a large work surface. In truth I may have been better off building your model and a separate bench. Perhaps on another day but what I’ve done works well so I’m happy.

I've built several of these, but with open sides. I learned and started using the L corners from the beginning, so that is my normal building method. I like how you put the blades on the side. I only have two fixed wheels on the rear of my table saw so I move it around like a hand-truck. But, since I don't back it up to the bench very much, it tends to slide/roll a little. I haven't fully decided on how I'll change that for the next build coming up later this summer. I'm building a new one, soon, to be taller to match the top of my new, taller workbench. I'll be boxing it in like yours and hanging my blades and tools on the side, too. Only, I'll be adding some kind of closure on the front. My experience is that sawdust tends to fill the space if it is open. Thank you for sharing!

I have the same saw so I know how back breaking heavy it is! I struggled with mine, so made an almost identical trolley, but on mine I added a drawer at the top, and left top open to catch as much saw dust as possible in the drawer, because it does throw out a lot of dust from the bottom.
@chriscotton3719
@chriscotton3719 Жыл бұрын
That was my only thought, if it's screwed down onto the plywood top, what happens to all the sawdust that falls through and will just gather up over time? I'm going to make this but without a table top and instead 4 struts for the saw to sit on with an opening to the shelf below so I can add a drawwr to catch the dust.

Been looking at a lot of design videos and finally found a build that didn't use pocket holes. With a small shop and a jobsite saw this is what I need. I'll also call out that most people think you need locking casters on all four legs, when two will do. Curious about the casters you have on your work bench, most of the ones I see look cheap but they look pretty sturdy.

Just bought myself the same Bosch table saw. Great idea to have the trolley - will definitely help to have it more mobile. Some interesting comments from the blog members on dust collection / removal. Is your normal dust vacuum sufficient to remove all the saw dust or does it still accumulate between the base of the saw and the top of your trolley? Could potentially require you to remove the saw from the trolley to clean the excess saw dust. I like the idea of an opening in the trolley top with a small drawer to collect the dust - will facilitate easy cleaning. Great video - thanks for the useful content.

My extraction is pretty powerful so I don't get much, but I like the idea of the drawer for cleaning

I have a 1955 cast iron Craftsman contractor saw so it’s pretty dang heavy. This would work great! The issue is the saw dust goes down. Any reason I couldn’t put a hole in the center of the table and a bin in the bottom shelf? I’m just starting out so this is perfect timing.

Taking delivery of Bosch Gts 10 xc tomorrow. Going to build similar cart. Great presentations John - keep it going. Have you any experience of Benchdogs Quad MFT rail hinge? Regards, Paul

@@JohnMcGrathManInShed thanks John. I have purchased the Parf 2 mk 2 and intend to make a MFT table similar to yours with a router table. I have also acquired the benchdogs quad rail hinge and I want to accommodate this in MFT - workbench top is 25mm mdf MR 1500 x 900 - any advice ? Paul

I've got the Porter Cable job site saw. I haven't looked at it to see how hard it would be to take off the built in collapsible mobile base. It's on wheels large enough to navigate rough terrain around job sites. I wonder if it would be worth taking it apart.

Might be worth a go if you only use it in your workshop

Could this be modified to hold a 500 pound laser? Would you just use 4x4 posts for the legs instead? And maybe a crossbeam under the table top?

It could. Just make sure the castors have the correct load ratting

You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice kzfaq.infoUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

Not for the type of woodworking I do , this saw has plenty of power for my needs and I break down all my sheets with a track saw.
