Check out the latest design of our fence system:
• I Made My Fence System...
Hey Guys! In this video I show a table saw fence system I designed and installed on my trusty Craftsman 113 table saw. This was all built using aluminum extrusions and has been working great for me. It has great accuracy and ease of adjustment and I was able to keep the parts cost under $150.
If you are interested in building one yourself, head over to:

Great build and idea. Really like the fact that you have the ability to increase or decrease the cut size. Something you could never do with a factory made fence.

I really like this design! I've been thinking about a proper fence for a long time - ever since I got my saw which is a Startrite combination machine and the fence is a joke tbh. Thanks for posting this :)

Excellent work ! I'm about to build my extruded aluminum fence as well but, i'm planning on using my guide rails as a stand in for the INCRA system i want to buy. My plan is to use the sections i purchase as extensions for my in-feed and or out-feed support once the INCRA system is purchased. If i change my mind i also got a few other ways to use them.

Once built, how do you adjust it so it is parallel to the blade/miter slots?
@jbuilds1

As part of the initial calibration, you use clamp it down parallel to the miter slot, then tighten down all the bolts for the front slider. After that it will retain this position.

I've got an old Walker-Turner 8" saw. I know I'll have to drill mounting holes for the rails. (1) guessing this will fit and is universal, (2) do you include the UHMW spacers, and (3) since the fence doesn't lock to the rear rail, is it really necessary?
@jbuilds1
@jbuilds1 3 жыл бұрын
1 - Yes the mounting holes are drilled roughly 7'8" from the top of the tabletop so just make sure your top is thick enough to support that. 2 - Yes the UHMW pads are included as part of the front slider assembly. 3 - The main purpose of the rear rail is to support the fence past where the original tabletop extension ends. If you already have a longer or custom extension then it can be skipped however i have found that it slightly improves the movement of the fence as there is a UHMW pad under the bottom of the fence that fits into the rear rail.

Seems a shame to go to that much trouble and then have no more accurate way of setting a rip width than to use a tape measure. How about building in a scale, or better still a digital readout? The WIxey units are inexpensive.
