This is why ball is so much more spinny when looping backspin ball. However, I always like going against the spin because I could feel the strong friction against my rubber. When going with the spin, I couldn’t feel much at all. Which was the reason it took forever for me to learn how to loop against backspin. Even now, I am still more comfortable going against the spin. But now I understand why my spin quality is so much lower than others.

Nice. But does this apply to shirt balls? Normally you go against the spin for short balls push against short side underspin.. Right? Do you have a lesson showing how to apply this principle (going with the spin) with the backhand? Thanks a lot

It's possible to go with the spin, you use very loose wrist and flick under the ball. If you flick as fast as the ball spins it kills the spin almost completely and the ball drops very short. Practicing this is the easiest vs a reverse pendulum backspin sidespin serve

@zizo015 then you just backhand drive or loop, touching the ball on the left side. So, it's a pretty natural movement. The other thing is reaction time, and that's just being focused and expecting it to come long to the backhand. I personally step slightly away from the table. It's easier for me to jump forward to a short ball than to step back on a long ball. And the short balls also give you much more time to do so. Long serves have to be very fast.

How to receive this serve going wide backhand side? . I usually play the way you explained when ball is coming in the middle of the body or forehand side. But most of the time i find it difficult to position and play with this approach for wide backhand ball, many times ball get miss timed and fly off the table

Yes. It's difficult since you can't go with the spin If you don't move early following the curve of the ball... But if you do follow the curve to the left , using your left leg, taking a step to the left, it should be possible to do a banana flick like backhand topspin flowing the spin .. Right?.. I think it's important to anticipate the curve.. If you are already in your backhand side then you just need to wait there since the ball is curving to your position..if you move to the point where the ball hits the table the first time you will be late since the ball has already moved to your left.. Think about it and let me know 😅
