I taught typing for 10 years for one hour as a prelude to my classes in Microsoft Office. I told my students that they needed to be able to type 60 words a minute if they were to get a job in an office one day. I told them that they would always know how to type fluently no matter what program they were using. Little did I realize that this day would come when anyone can type simply by talking!!!

What Windows 11 Voice Access apparently does NOT do is sent keyboard key COMMANDS to active window apps. It sends them as text (as in Notepad text) and not as inherent commands such as is used in games. It does apparently not send them as key bind commands or have a mode to do that in. This to me is a big shortcoming. It stops shy of being really powerful. If the letter "G" actuates a certain game action, VA sends it as a text "G" and the game fails to understand it at all. Something like VoiceAttack is also needed for that conversion.

Thanks for the video. I'd like to launch a program and pass it a parameter. I've tried using Voice Shortcuts but can't get it to work. Any idea? For instance, let's say i give it the path to word.exe I'd like to pass it a file path so it opens a specific file. It would be better if I could have the parameter as a variable but I'd settle for just using a set value for now. Thank you for any help you can provide!
