Human culture and behavior is amazing. Cutting the chest of a youth / young adult who consents is one thing, but what kind of animal first decided it was a good idea to hold down a small child and cut its face while it screams? What kind of lemmings continued this tradition for generations? This is a perfect example of where blind adherence to traditions is very bad for human happiness and well-being. This tradition needs to end, and end now. If the child agrees to be cut when he / she is older that is another matter, but don't do this to a toddler.

Jahmar Fearon, I get where you are coming from but I can't agree. Tattoos and ear piercings in countries like the US are almost always consensual Circumcision is another topic, and I would argue that it shouldn't happen without consent, but even that is at least usually done with local anesthetic. Holding a child down an mutilating its face while it screams is another matter. This is one tradition that needs to die, and die now. If someone still wants this done when they are older that is ok, but don't do this to a child.

***** I was unlucky enough to be cicumcised quite old. Doubt this cutting crap is much more painful. Also, at least these Africans allow the boys to grow old enough to choose to have this done by their own free will. What choice to most circumcised people have. Even those circumcised very late like me at 5 years old still have far less competence to make such a decision.

The people commenting about how cruel it is to tattoo a baby may say it's primitive, evil and cruel (and maybe it is) but don't look down on people for doing what they truly think is right and not knowing better. People live whatever life they're born into, if you were born into this tribe you would likely do the same things they do. Don't act like your innately more intelligent or better in someway just because you were born into a first world country.

Being from India rituals are not new to us and I don't want to judge but I will admit that Africans are tough people. Rituals such as these may seem barbaric but there is a deep rooted connections to the surroundings and while modernity and urbanization may raise questions there can be no doubt that these things are important and should never be judged out of context. Any and all rights of opinions and judgement belong to the people of that tribe, clan, village and nation. Everybody else should only watch,appreciate and accept the grandeur of diversity and cultures of this wonderful planet we all share.

Hmm, its interesting to see what some culture's don't consider abuse. Circumcision, scarification, piercings, etc. Although we can't see it for how they do, and I do think it is child abuse, to them it is something more meaningful and even pleases their gods. It's a very fine line, who's right and who's wrong?
@NJHS92
@NJHS92 8 жыл бұрын
they are right we are wrong,who are we to say otherwise? if they have done it for hundreds of years and everyone thinks its nice and even the teenages say they wanted it done while they were kids its us who are wrong. i think circumsision is child abuse, wrong & gross, but that doesnt mean i will get in their parents face about it or discriminate a whole country for it, besides its just like tatooing only without ink.
@ghoulish6125
