If you feed your sardines good stuff while in captivity you can turn them into superbait. We have used the powdered potatoes from the grocery store when we had nothing else. Their favorite feed is Yellowtail roe.

A Spinfisher VI liveliner in the 6500 or 8500 size is fine for school-size tuna. Bear in mind that the last several seasons have seen mixed sizes among the schools, with 30 pounders sometimes mixed with 150 pounders.

I threw a larger live liner in the trash a couple years ago. My dad was using it and hooked a decent tuna, the reel held up for about 5 minutes before it took a giant crap and my dad lost the fish. Back at the dock we bought a saragosa. We paid for tickets again to go back out the next night because my dad had lost his first and only bluefin. Well, we wacked the shit out of em the next day.

Correct spelling is "Gomame". Best hook size for the 3.5 ounce is either a 1/0 or 2/0 Owner ST-66 treble hook.

@@HoofHearted_Eh Even private boats can have issues with the fish diving under the boat, around the props, etc. Your call if you want to make it easier on yourself, though it is true that the fish will not really care one way or another.
