“In Life either we are INSIDE a storm, Or going into a storm, Or coming out of one”
Our ship was caught in cyclone NYATOH last year in December & I managed to capture the entire journey.
Inside the video I have placed special emphasis on the following topics :-
1. How a ship plans it’s route while transiting troubled waters.
2. How we prepare our ship for heavy weather.
3. Shots of waves greater than 5metres in height.
4. What I do when I get sea-sick.
5. The measures we take to manage our ship when we are close to the storm.
And not to forget the time-lapse/night lapse of the entire transit.
Enjoy the video & don't forget to give it a big thumbs up if you found the video informative .
Also for those who are new to the channel - I am Karanvir Singh Nayyar , a third officer in Maersk , vlogging my Life At Sea Journey.
So don't forget to hit that subscribe button & turn the bell notification on ;) if you wish to watch my life from the 7 oceans in the world.

Beautiful vessel! I particularly love that it is so energy efficient. Aside from that though, the layout of everything is extremely nice, your cabin seems very comfortable, and almost reminiscent of a hotel room, all of the machinery in your engine room looks like it's in pristine condition, and all the technology you have access to, on board, is amazing. Thanks for the video! Great content!

I am from Mumbai. From childhood I mean after high school time I was really fond of weather forecasting and studying the weather. I would have liked to make weatherman my career. Now also in monsoons and storms, I never miss checking the MET DPT website and satellite maps and try to predict the weather. I have a habit to check the weather before setting out for a long trip or an important traveling. After meeting Navin, my next-door Guy, who is working on a merchant Navy ship as navigating officer and watching your channel I am realizing how important a role a weatherman plays on a ship sailing in the ocean. I am really enthusiastic, respectful, and proud of the job you guys are doing. Because of you guys economy and trade of the nation, as well as the world, is stay balanced and maintained. Salute!

Excellent video young man. You are doing a fine job. I have to say this, though, if you got seasick on your HUGE ship, you would have had a REAL "fun" time on any of MY warships. We would roll so much so that you could literally walk up a bulkhead. As the helmsman, I managed to stop two ships from capsizing. The first resulted in a 52 degree roll the second only a 48 degree roll. Younger sailors used to complain "Walking on the bulkheads is such a problem." I would respond, "Walking on the bulkheads is not a problem, BUT walking on the overheads (ceilings), now THAT would be a problem." Have safe travels and calm seas.

KSN , Greetings from Raeford North Carolina, USA!!! I’ve be checking your videos out for the last few weeks. Good stuff man! Thank you and the crews of all those involved in the shipping industry. I used to drive the 18 wheeler trucks here years ago and have pulled from the ports of Charleston and Norfolk. Where I live at is only about 1 1/2 hours from Wilmington North Carolina and we usually get brushed by Atlantic Hurricanes. Sometimes, we get hammered. I watch a couple of other Mariners channels and I will wrap this up with the same thing I tell them , may all your voyages end safely with fair seas and following winds. God Bless you all and thank you again.

I think you forgot a very important thing when preparing for the storm. Did you secure your plants that are growing on the bridge? Haha I never heard the waves called white horses...interesting. We always called them white caps. Good video as always!

16:06 you showed an interesting picture, that is from a ship that had a mayday in a storm and was abandoned by the crew. The AQS ship aka AQS Tor actually fell off the ship and into the sea off Norway and was unmanned and adrift for a while, it was towed to port and inspected and had very little damage as a result and is today back in service with its customer (The original ship was transporting new vessels to various customers when they got in trouble) No other ships or crew was lost in the incident though.

The Nyatoh typhoon really did give you guys a scare I guess... But as you mentioned everything whether it be good or bad has to come to an end so yeah... Really loved the video Karan bhai... This actually shows the different phases of a seafarers life and how we go about it... Even with the conditions you were working and also shooting... Hats off to the commitment and effort... Happy that everyone's safe... So take care and stay safe...

What a wonderful job you do in keeping that enormous ship running smoothly. This has been a very informative video letting us see how involved it is to work on a container ship. What would we do without you . We count on your bringing supplies to the world. Stay safe and blessed out on the sea. Thank you for all that you do.
