On the American Top 40 radio show in October 1983, Casey Kasem mentioned this performance. Taco would appear in a department store window dressed as a puppet, promoting his single. The idea was for him to perform and have a sizeable crowd gather around. Taco's record company hoped that if enough people liked what they heard, they would go inside the store to buy the record.

I remember hearing this song alot on the radio during the summer of 1983.

Whenever I'm having a bad day, I come watch this video and everything is better. We are so fortunate this was preserved and can be accessed here so easily. Roland, is there any footage of Taco performing any of the material from "After Eight" in front of a live audience at the time of the album's release? He must have done a few live appearance to support the album. I would love to see that.

This dude came from 2022, 40 years from the future, to deliver a message to these mindless gaslit people trapped on the other side of the glass stuck in 1982. Sadly the message didn't get received for a lot of these people until 2022. At least he tried.

Watch when Steve Brodie went to see Lucy Calhoun at Chuck Connor house, the kind of outfit he was wearing to impress the girl. He even had white spats on his shoes and pants with stripes. He had mitts on, he was wearing a derby hat and was walking with stick. He was the super duper. Great song Taco!

Taco’s look definitely was better with the more coiffed hair you see in the music video. I think that may have had partial influence in why the single was more popular by that time.
