I like the 14-10 Survival Kit breakdown and how it addresses the layering system. Something most people don't think about unless you watch Ranger Survival and Field Craft. They should bring back Dual Survival and put you in it. I'll never forget what your teacher taught you- "We survive out of our pockets, we fight off our rack, we live out of our rucksack" if that's not wisdom I don't know what is. I had an experience going through the Air Force NCO Academy when I noticed one of the instructor's uniform was out of whack- his name tag was not positioned right on his shirt- so I told him and walked away. He yelled at me "SPEARMAN! What are going to do about it?" After I caught my breath I simply went back to him and fixed it. And he said "Thank you." That was the lesson outside of the classroom that stuck with me all these years. In all the lessons I've learned that was the greatest because it applies to everything. When something isn't right what are you going to do about it? Sit on the sidelines? Complain? Be a nuisance? Fuck no-- you do something about it. That one experience left an indelible mark on my psyche. Great instructor!

I was a policeman for 27 years and had great tactical training on SWAT but never any type of survival training. I am learning an amazing amount by watching your channel. Thank you for your service to our country and for sharing this extremely necessary information.

Great video. Here is an old Op4 trick. Keep a hexamine tablet with your smoke. In a pinch, you can quickly convert the smoke into a CS by field stripping the smoke, placing the pieces of hexamine into the body then reassemble. Pull and pop you now have green CS. You will quickly identify those who pulled their diaphragm from their promask.

I'm using the same grenade pouch for a headlamp too. Nice and convenient, and we never would carry nades in recon ops anyway. Good setup, gave me some ideas.

I caught a GB2 video recently where he had a chap stick & lighter together & couldn't resist commenting about knowing a steely eyed killer by his supple lips. Great load out. With the 2 qts water what does it weigh? There has to be some way to reinforce snaps on those rigs so they wouldn't tear out of the material with age. I hate velcro. Well thought out. Bravo Zulu, Captain.

I also appreciate the info about cross loading. I know most of us won't see any crazy adventures, combat, or action. But having a kit that you can access similar items with ease if a limb is injured or occupied is really convenient when it counts.

For a relatively new channel the content is always superb. Look forward to your notifications. I believe you’re making a huge impact in the community. Try taping (100 mile an hour tape) a few water purification tablets in they’re original blister pack to the bottom of each canteen, just remember to watch the expiration dates.

Excellent kit Andrew! I have a similar kit made with a ESSTAC 7.62 Boar Chest-Rig Kit and HSGI pouches (of course in Ranger Green!). And I still have my old Ranger Handbook (circa 1975) that I took to Ranger School. Took it apart and laminated each page, punched holes for 550-cord to keep it together! - RLTW!

genuinly great vids on kit content, as stated in other comments, you go into enough detail but don't bore us to death, few content creators can say that. you've been comprehensive and thorough, even gave ideas or perspective and tips some may not have even considered. you've also shown just how versatile and very capable the TAPs is. keep it up we love your vids

I look so forward to your videos with all this useful info. I’ve combined it with my lifestyle of hitch hiking, hiking, & camping. My motto has always been, “ f I can’t carry it, I don’t want it”. Your task kit seems daunting with all the stuff to carry for survival tactics. Perhaps I should also include, a bug out solution.

Solid kit and presentation. Your instructional skills are quickly improving and it shows. I'd like to see a video of you putting down some serious distance with this load out. Everyone has bug out bags but very few have ever carried them more than 2-5 miles. I'd like to see you show why load bearing is so damn important.

Great job with these videos, again high quality no BS content. Perhaps consider a video about patrolling, mission planning and how you stay in shape being active duty, diet exercise etc.

Great block of instruction again! Tier or level systems make the most sense for organization of gear...It really gives some structure on what to carry as bare minimum EDC (Level 1) and layering of redundancies in each subsequent level. This also dovetails nicely into the 5/10 C’s as well... well done Ranger! Keep up the fire!

Very useful information as always. One question: How can a multitool be used for bypassing locks? Is there a video using that technique?

An example of a bypass would be a low security door lock by jamming. Using the whole tool as a lever to create space to free the door open or to use the screw driver as a wedge to overcome the locked doorknob.

Great video as usual, Ranger. Some essential missing Ranger items are a double-edged Randall-level dagger with a 6 1/2 inch blade and removable grip with a secure-but-threaded pommel, plus a silent sheath. Also a pouch dedicated to hold 7 to 21 loose rifle rounds to enable short-loading 7 magazines by 1 to 3 rounds for possible necessary enhanced functionality while providing a few “extra” reserve rounds.

Thank you for teaching the different kits. Now I can add on the my kit belt . It just has the amo pouch & canteen pouch. But making new pouches with the metal pieces from my old lawn chair and sewing pouches from water proof canvas. It's a better system for me too use too keep my hands free.

Excellent breakdown and very well thought through and explained. Cross loading is a great idea and something I will have to implement. How do you find the running the taps without body armour/plate carrier? Does it limit your ability to get low in the prone and if you lying on your gear, how does it make it easy to access it? I did similar in the Navy. First line was a little bit more and included a sheath knife and multi tool, sunnto m9 compass opposite of watch, fire kit (lighter and strike force), platypus water bottle and tabs, casualty space blanket, signaling gear, and other E&E items and bits spread loaded in pockets (little more difficult to do in civilian clothing). Second line duplicated some of the first line such as signaling, nav, water, more first aid etc.

1st thing. Thank you for your service! This is definitely not for everyone. Most people don't have the training or mindset to think and work this way. If in a real situation people with no training will fumble and fail. TRAIN! Have an educated and experienced instructor push you. One thing I wish you would cover in a video because I feel coming from you would beneficial is "health and fitness". If ones body is not fit and ready they can't even apply or be successful at accomplishing these survival techniques. Great video though, and great channel!👍

Just found your channel. Very nicely done. Your backup redundancy system is very good. One small thing I noticed on the water B-roll: point the opening of the water catching container away from the current to reduce debris and the workload of the filter system. Bit of a two edged thing, the weight of an individual soldiers kit has steadily climbed as time goes by, the trade off has generally been an enormous increase in individual capabilities and survivability, the other negative has been long term bodily harm in the form of joint and tendon damage carrying the extra weight, but I suppose most people would consider that a smaller price to pay for the reduced rate of soldier fatalities.
