There are a lot of misconceptions about how, when, and where to use back panels on your plate carrier. In this video Adam goes over some important considerations you should account for when deciding between a back panel and a backpack for tactical applications.

I find those videos quite interesting and like watching them, but I'm still always wondering who the target audience or the customers are, that you are trying to reach. For me it seems like those videos are made for something like private military/security companies (or maybe LAPRers?), because I have never been in a situation were I needed to assault something nor have I ever been on patrol.

You need to realise that a large number of military personnel buy their own gear. Command isnt gonna give you everything you want, and if it does, its probably been well worn out by someone else. Security companies requiring their officers use their own gear makes sense too. On the third hand, yes, larpers and milsim lovers in the civie sector make up a large purchase. t. I use stuff like this to fill out my duty gear on the job.

@@OfficialPheep Exactly, I've been issued some of the worst gear I've ever had the displeasure of working with. So for my last 4 deployments I've just brought my own shit (command permitting) and it's made my life a million times easier, and more comfortable

Shaw Concepts’ Plate Carrier Panel fixes all the issues. Its a panel and a backpack, and it clips into your plate carrier. Doesnt get in the way, you can set it up however you want, whether you attach individual pouches or a premade pack or panel to it, easy to use and access on your own.

Agree, a backpack is more useful for 99% of us and getting one that is designed to wear over a carrier and also be used as an EDC bag should be something Spiritus makes. I have a Camelbak HAWG and it worls great over a carrier because the should straps can carry wide making it comfortable over a carrier.

have it be able to integrate with the chest rigs or be able to attach to the LBV expander kit, to eliminate strap clutter and lower snag potential. or Make a lighter/smaller version, that could hold a hydration pouch and expand for things that might be necessary that wont fit in just the LBV expander.

With the coming adoption of the sig spear, I’d really appreciate a video on setting up larger magazines. A sniper type kit break down would be nice as well. I have friends at units that are currently dealing with adopting the new rifle and they are looking for better solutions to carry the bigger magazines and better ways to setup their kits.

The majority of backpacks extend down to the hips and lower which eliminates one's basic pace speed. It's easy to prove. Just grab the shoulder straps, lift them up high to achieve having the backpack to located above the hips. Try walking a given distance doing both and you will notice that you can actually move faster with a backpack located above your hips.

You guys have the best back panel there is. I really wish it worked with my HRT carrier. But of course, HRT had to make nothing compatible with any other system. I bought my RAC shortly after it came out and I had to modify my MK3 front placard to work with it, along with a cummerbund. It took HRT 4 years to come out with a decent placard and a good cummerbund.

As eternal patrol medic I've never been in a role where back panels are applicable, the thought of having inaccessible kit useless to me in everything but an urban stack situation was anathema, only thing close to a back panel I've run is a hydration bladder pouch plus a side accessible radio pouch, that can still have a backpack combat first aid kit or field pack over it. That said, it's good that Adam went over the pros/cons and likely use cases, and more power to anyone who needs to runs a back panel for their role.
@vicerichter1163
@vicerichter1163 2 ай бұрын
it honestly sounds like as a pro. You're gonna need more than one kit setup. Like you said, depending on your role. Seems like drivers would basically be the bare essentials. Minimum gear just to say you're equipped for an assault but not weighing you down or being cumbersome while driving or getting-in or out of a car. You're gonna be reliant on a support. I think personally that a pack or backpack is meant for a support/breacher/medic role. Support would have alot of extra gear and extra stuff so a pack or a backpack is necessary. Depending on what kind of support. Maybe weapons support or the 3rd or second guy from the stack. Breachers depending on what kind of setup they running might just be a pack. But if you're a demo guy. You're gonna need a backpack or an assaulter's kit to house all your det cord, E.D's, initiators and controllers, breaching tools, batteries, cables, maybe an EOD kit. And medics I know all keep a special bag on them with basically as much gear as an EMT would have off an ambulance. Anything else is just pack/panel. Or no panel at all especially if you're on a team and you're the point man or the cover. You're gonna be more reliant on the rest of your team than yourself.

I run Krydex MK3 chest rig and flat pack together (copy of flatpack plus) They slip in the front of my helmet carrier on my platatac medium assault pack (gods ruck when you upgrade the waistbelt/pad) Obviously you can wear the combat load+ruck if the flatpack isnt packed too much as the ruck is spaced for plate carriers anyway. (1609 frame) The flatpack as you know, can have "velcro panels" on the inside if needed in the worst case anyway, and lets be honest - its not hard to mod the front of the pack to accept panels on the outside anyway)

You Guys are great I love your stuff very innovative very high-quality. I get where you’re coming from, you guys wanted your panel to be better. But by making it so different you’re making it to where no one who’s bought into any other system can use your stuff. I will not be buying a separate carrier just to use your back panel. I really like the carrier I already have I think it’s superior to your carrier which is why I got the one I have. I would love to buy some really cool things you guys have, but I can’t because it isn’t compatible. I hope at some point you guys realize that just because yours is better doesn’t mean people will buy it. It Has to check more than one box to be a viable product.

A pro for back panels (also applies to WMLs & attaching anything to any other types of gear) is that if you have your armor, you have the stuff that's in the panel too. It makes me think of the 90s to 2000s era Russian tac vests that had cargo pockets on the back for stuff. Yeah, it would suck to have it full while in a vehicle or with a pack on but if you had neither one then if you had the vest, you also had whatever you put in the back too.

I mostly run with a haversack, but I’ve also run a DIY Alice frame with a music box also works just as well for carrying cargo, although whilst having a full on rucksack might be better off for both larger containers or cargo items, having individual panels, does make access and support much easier to deal with, that being said if I was in a similar position, it mostly depends primarily on the mission specifics but I would run a medium to small sized container pouch on the lower section of my plate carrier whilst having several utility and smaller pouches above the cargo pouch, for example things like additional food, first aid supplies, grenades and even two or more extra magazines for the person behind me if they need extra ammunition, other than that, it’s mostly individual choices really, that being said, it would be nice if there was a system where you could mount a small or medium sized bag onto your plate carrier, again I simply used two pieces of flat metal, bent one end do it hooks onto the mollee whist the other end is bent into a sort of hanging frame in which I mount my box onto so the weight essentially becomes one with the place carrier allowing the weight to be distributed even more so across my body

Ja mein Pflegevater konnte mir so einiges erzählen. =

“You guys are great. I love your stuff; very innovative and very high quality. I get where you’re coming from. You wanted your panel to be better, but by making it so different, you’re making it to where no one who has bought into another system can use your stuff. I will not be buying a separate carrier just to use your back panel. I like the carrier I have, which I think is superior to your carrier and thus is why I got the one I have. I would love to buy some really cool things you guys have, but I can’t because it isn’t compatible. I hope at some point you guys realize that just because yours is good, doesn’t mean it’s better to other people. It has to check more than one box to be a viable product.” This is a comment further down. I’d strongly recommend taking his advice 🇺🇸👍🏻 I’m all about being compatible with others products
