Tactical Headset Live Fire Range Test

In this video I test the Earmor M32 Tactical Headset as well as the Howard Leight Impact Sport and Walker Razor Tactical Headset Kits live fire on the range to determine how well they perform as active hearing protection as well as how well they receive radio traffic with the hearing protection circuit engaged during live fire. In the second half of the video I give an overall recap ending this particular series.

Scott this series on entry level tac headsets is gold. Just studying entry comms setups and getting my Tech license. Have seen YT vids of good and not so good on the M32 and was looking at the Walker and the HL headsets w mics then saw your earlier vids where you’ve now field tested all 3 and their respective pros and cons. The kicker is the M32 has good ear pro + ambient noise + the Earmor M51 PTT better quality. I had purchased one already not realizing it is pretty much proprietary to Earmor headsets. It is a solid build and with your recommendation makes the decision ez. And you can always tell the LEO at the range by the double tap. Thank you from a brother LEO. Well done and deserving of a subscription. 👊

I’ve used my Hearangel Comtac 2’s with 5.56 and 7.62 with great results. The 5.56 testing was indoors with a can. It was a pleasurable experience.

The mics are interchangeable. My M32s came with the old mics and I upgraded to the new ones. No issues. The old mics were a little fragile.

I’ve read the earmor m32 can’t run on rechargeable nihm aaa because the voltage is too low can you confirm this?

So the highest performing package with reversible clip on PTT would be? Where can we get that set up and know it’s bonafide? Will that set up run with baofeng uv9r pro in orange? I think I got that designation correct. Please remake all these videos with a 6906…with an rds installed. Thanks for all these videos.

The UV-9R Pro might be a problem on the PTT adapter. I'm not aware of anyone making a headset PTT for that setup as it uses the IP67 contact strip rather than the typical K-1 type plug set. However, you could attach one of the IP67 to K-1 adapters that I profiled here - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pMtoireerLyof6s.htmlsi=fJptA3h_8YR5AGO and then use a K-1 type PTT adapter. The best setup I tested was the Earmor M32 headset with the M51 PTT. I bought mine on Amazon and have not seen any authenticity issues in the reviews there. I appreciate your video, but, you knew it was coming... None of these headsets have an NRR greater than 23 (Walkers), and I can promise you that spending a day at the range with 5.56 and 7.62, you're going to have a headache at the end of the day. For the price range you have selected, yes, these are viable options. To adequately protect your hearing you're going to need to dig a little deeper into the wallet...

All three are rated at 22. At that price point that's the best it's going to get. The engineering involved in getting beyond that point is why Comtacs/Sordins/Liberators will go as much as 29db but all cost $1k plus. These reviews will eventually get to those. But 99% of end users spending their own money will never pay out that much for ear pro. The intent of this particular series was to find the best of the inexpensive units currently available and divert people away from the airsoft Comtac copies I keep seeing in use. - On a completely unrelated note, I noticed your username. Are you a Security Forces troop? That's what I use to do. But back then it was still Security Police and split into 2 separate career fields.

The only autoloaders I like are 3rd generation S&W's. I spent 20+ years carrying them on the job and have sent many thousands of rounds downrange with them. It's a comfort and familiarity thing. I've spent so much time with them that they function as an extension of my will now. I've tried other handgun systems but have yet to find any compelling reason to switch.

@@KS6DAY I figured that was likely the real reason. Classic cop gun. I could tell by how fluid you were with it you had a lot of hours and rounds through them. I dont think I heard any misses either 👍
