Hello everyone! The Kumiko plan for this video is available for sale on my website.
There are 30 pages of detailed 2D & 3D layouts on all colors. Available in both Metric & Imperial.
You can click on the link below to go straight to my website. Thanks for all your supports!

There were a couple of things that have been changed. I was originally supposed to give out the finished panel size. But I have added two more Kumiko patterns and changed the outer frame design.
I will post it in this description section by tomorrow with the sizes. However, the size of the triangle is not changed and it is in the video on the CAD drawing. Please refer to the drawing and check back by tomorrow for the actual panel size. Thanks for watching! ^^

I enjoyed every second of the video! Thank you so much for all the long hard work of making the videos for us. The Diablo D0740 has an Alternate Top Bevel grind. How did you account for the raised point left by the ATB? I found a 8-1/4" blade works fine in the SawStop with the dado cartridge. I just purchased a 10" blade from Infinity Cutting Tools that has a 1/16" kerf (stabilizer builtin) and has an ATB grind. I purchased it for ripping trying to save a bit of wood. Looks like I may be able to use it for notching the Kumiko also. You said the miter/chop saw could be used to cut the Kumiko miters instead of the blocks. I don't have and may not have room for a miter saw. What do you think about using an Incra Miter Sled? At 20:00 when you cut the Kumiko in half for the boarder, are both halves keepers or is one trash? Sorry for too many questions. I truly intend to build this. Ok, starting with much smaller test pieces first.

Great to know.. Thanks for the info. I'm going to pin this comment since it has very good info for those who are trying to make this panel. The 1/16" thickness was so thin... the ATB didn't leave any raised points. Incra miter sled is just fine. I have one too and it is a amazing tool. At 20:00, since you are cutting right next to the center pencil line, you only can use one side. I have tried cutting exactly at half on other videos but it looked too thin because of the saw kerf thickness.

Thanks! I love watching your kumiko series, it's just so mesmerising and beautiful. I've been squirrelling different species of timber away that I get free from my work, just upgraded my mitre saw too so I can cut most angles, just need to buy a decent table/cabinet saw now and I'm ready to go!! Once again thanks!

Just a quick thank you for this great series of videos. I have learned sooooooooo much from them. I must admit, however, I drool over the tools. LOL I really appreciate you including all the tips and techniques for those of us with lesser equipped shops. I use mostly hand tools. Thank you ever so much, Taeho!

Thanks Michael, I think my next video(part 9) might help you even more. I have come up with a new jig/sled for the router table that can make very difficult small patterns that are only possible with kumiko kannas. I hope you have a router table. Please stay tuned. Part 9 will be uploaded by late tonight. Thanks again.

@@Craycola If you do Facebook, check out the Kumiko Woodworking page made by @Michael Barnes. It is a great club to join with a lot of information on both power tools and hand tools. For me, I only use handtools where power tools are not possible. I have done enough handwork in my woodworking career. 😂

Fantastic work, this is a lesson on accuracy with machines and stock preparation.....getting all this right at the start is of paramount importance....you say add 5tho back from your test piece! Do you measure that with digital calipers? BTW, very clean and tidy shop!
@WoodArtStudio1
@WoodArtStudio1 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much!! Yes, I do use calipers to measure. Another method I use is by marking with a 0.5mm mechanical pencil & move the stop block to cover about 1/3 of the pencil line. Covering 1/3 of the pencil line is usually a few thousandths of an inch...

Awesome work. Realy outstanding. I am also planing a Kumiko like yours as a picture above my Bed. Your videos are sooo helpful and good. Thank you so much. At he moment i am testing the diffrent working process to optimize but my main problem is to get the stripes acurate. I try to handplane the stripes but it works only up to a lengh of 400 mm. The longer stripes will bend and breake. I also build my own mini thickness Sander but i am also not so happy with this methode. No i ll try my planer. Do you have a tip for me?
@WoodArtStudio1
@WoodArtStudio1 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support! You can try planing from the little above the halfway point. When you see me planing the stripes in one of the videos (I forgot at which part) you can see that I'm starting from above the middle point. As you said, the stripes are too thin and can bend or break easily. By starting at the above midpoint and rotate to the other end repeat the process will help.
