For decades, Taekwondo has been one of the most popular martial arts practiced around the world.
It is widely performed by people of all ages and genders, primarily as a form of exercise or as a form of self-defense. Yet, there is a hot debate that persists among both patrons and observers surrounding the much loved martial art, that is; Is Taekwondo effective in a street fight?

I was born and raise in Brazil. I have been learning taekwondo ITF since I was 6 yo. I had to defend myself many times on the streets and as well against people that actually know some kind of martial art. Taekwondo was allways pretty effective. One must just remember that in a martial art there must be the moment for art techniques and there must be the moment for martial techniques.

Having been kicked by many tae kwon do fighters, I can say from personal experience, the answer to your question is: not much. Tippy tap kicks are much more of an annoyance than anything that will seriously impede, let alone incapacitate, a motivated attacker.

Quick and strong* No point to kick if its weak
@ManifoldSky
@ManifoldSky 2 жыл бұрын
@Mike First off all, almost none of those kicks are strong. But more importantly, if you spend your practice working on flashy kicks that only need to tap to “count”, and work on tactics and strategies in sparring designed for sport, you won’t be able to throw, let alone land, those “strong kicks” before getting punched in the face. This is made even worse by the fact that tae kwon do emphasises flashy kicks above the waist, and designed its sort matches to promote same (because it keeps students coming on the doors and there money flowing). Kicking above the easiest FTMP is a mistake, especially on the street, and leaves you vulnerable and easily off balanced, especially since, contrary to what you’re told, IRL those kicks will most likely NOT knock your opponent out, but instead serve as an opening for them to rush in, breaking range and putting you in a close situation clinch/grappling situation tae kwon do has absolutely zero tool to deal with.
@ManifoldSky
@ManifoldSky 2 жыл бұрын
@Mike Good. That means my point was getting across, because I meant insult Tae Kwon Do. First, again, if you spend any time training things that don't work, you're taking away time from training things that do, and thus make yourself that much less effective IRL. Second, ITF is by far the less popular branch of the TKD tree. And as such it is a perfectly true and accurate statement that the majority of TKD students train for sport. And again, it is not about kicking hard, it is about the kicks in general. I don't care how hard your spinning axe kick it, you aren't going to land it on me, and as soon as you try to throw it I am shooting in, collapsing your range, and taking out your legs with a double leg take down or just kicking your knee out sideways and tearing your ACL. And most importantly, you can gain "

Taekwondo was taught by Korean Tiger Division to South Vietnamese soldiers during Vietnam war. With rifle bayonet on both hands only legs are left to kick in close combat. Is TAEKWONDO effective in warfare hand to hand combat? Vietnam war usage proved its usefulness. It is the dilution of combat techs to competition techs that has made it less effective. Why the present generation criticise it is because they see the sport version and not the original version.

As a 3rd Dan in ITF Taekwondo and a certified instructor, it can be very effective in a street fight. ITF Taekwondo was made to kill people. The spearhand to the stomach was made to go between the muscles and corkscrew in to the human body. The spearhand to the groin was meant to rip off a man's testicles. We have watered it down to self defense. The kicks were meant to hit the body like a whip or a bat. ITF Taekwondo was meant to end a fight with one hit or kick. It was not just a martial art, but a killing art.

When she got to middle school there were 2 incidents where a middle school boy was practicing his "bully skills". Both were "dispatched" with one swift kick. No report to the teachers. The statement I remember most from my daughter about the back spin kick: "Now I know why Master Kim made us practice so much on knowing where the target was from the voice behind you!".

I trained in itf. It's not just kicks, which can take people by surprise. I did a lot of sparing, as well as learning to break boards. This latter is good for technique, since if your style sucks, you hurt your hand. This allows you to punch with power. I have also done sho to Kan. Very similar and I found that I was able to hold my own when sparing. Sparing is very important as it teaches you to read your opponent. The other thing we do in itf is close up work, like interrupted punches, or break away techniques. I have also done ground work with judo. I think that mixing different techniques works well. Kicks, punches, throws and ground work make for a viable form. The problem is that you also need an understanding of Saturday night brawls to understand that the best defence is often the sprint. Running away is a time honoured fighting style that, while lacking the glamour of many fighting styles, still has the best defense of any martial art. As mr miagi once said, the best way to avoid a blow is not to be there.

I have two black belts, one in ITF Tae Kwon Do & one in karate. It really depends on the individual & who trained them. Karate uses many more locks, breaks & is meant to take out an opponent hard & fast without all the flash. Personally, I think karate is a better art for self defense than Tae Kwon Do. In several real street fights, I pretty much used all hand techniques and didn’t bother throwing kicks. Breaking a knee or a good defensive side kick could be useful in the right scenario though. All those high kicks will just get you in trouble IMHO.

It’s so cool that I recognise these moves and I do them in my Taekwondo Classes. Taekwondo isn’t that powerful against bigger and people who can box, but if you know how to power your moves and do the correct punches and kicks, it can be very effective. My instructor told me to make my movements calm and relaxed and then use power when doing your strike. Edit: For those who wanna know what Taekwondo organisation I do, I do P.U.M.A. The organisation is one of the biggest and has a lot of classes.

I think people only see Tae Kwon Do practitioners as head kickers. It was always said when I trained that flying and head kicks were more finishing techniques unless up against someone who wasn't a street fighter or trained fighter. There have been plenty of people that have run into a front or sidekicked to the stomach or been roundhouse kicked in the ribcage and dropped. Spinning kicks weren't originally part of TKD. I think one was thrown in an American tournament back in the 60s and that was the first time they were used. Then they were quickly adopted into TKD. Most people who train aren't going to get away with throwing them as a lead technique. The TKD I did had numerous self-defence techniques where the objective was to attack the joints, but nobody attacked the kneecaps out of commonsense - the idea was to train in martial arts, not leave everyone with a broken knee joint at the end of the lesson. There were two styles of patterns back in the early '80s. One version had quite a bit of punch kick so TKD did train to set someone up with their hands first. The biggest revolution I saw in TKD during the '80s was when Bill Wallace came to Australia. I went to one of his training seminars, but our chief instructors spent a week or so with him and devised a more practical set of patterns with a lot more hand techniques. All martial arts have flaws, but regardless, I have never met a bloke who can stand and fight with a broken knee joint or walk away from a good knee or kick in the family jewels. ;-) I think it was Bruce Lee that said 'if you get in trouble, start kicking kneecaps. If you get in real trouble, kick them faster!'

Matter of fact, I never used more than 5% of my TKD skills in a real fight, almost never used my legs, the most powerful TKD weapon. I just punched them out of my way. Respectfully, i believe Teakwondo, as well as any other martial art, will certainly give confidence and an advantage to an individual if that individual is disciplined in the art and defending themselves against the "average Joe" who has not studied any discipline (more than likely the majority of time). When i practiced Taekwondo (im certainly no expert in the art and did not study it for very long), it seemed to me that there were two versions of it. One version being taught to people like myself who did it for exercise, and the other version for those who were competitive...just my opinion on how i saw it. Out of all the disciplines, i think it comes down to the individual using whichever art, who will come out on top.

It’s why I started the Taekwondo Upgrade on my channel, so that I could help people fill in those knowledge gaps with some basic skills to become a valid martial system for self defense again kzfaq.info/sun/PL-xwvF7p8HaiqVD12DdtI777XgfZrPGGA

World taekwondo federation doesn't allow punches..its kicks kicks and only kicks so when u get close to the opponent you're supposed to grab him till he or you lets go..But Itf Is different there's no chest gear and you're free to bash your opponent like anything But of course, you cant use your elbows and stuff..In my opinion Itf tkd is a much better way to defend yourself in a street fight...

Im a fencing instructor and have 40 vears of TKD Taekwondo behind me, the distance between two fighters is called the measure and is nomaly taken from the rear foot as the limit of there range. However a spinning kick is a very effective trap where placing the front foot at an angle and using it to become the centre of a spinning back kick allows you to gain about a foot and a half of distance, it's risky , but against a trained opponent being defencive is just waiting to loose. The extreme moves are one off stunts to open up an opponent's defences, fighting unlike sparing once an opponent has control its a brutal beating and I have often sparred against boxers there's no marquis of quenbry rules in a street fight. One kick Will leave an opponent in a seasure or spewing blood from both ends of the bowls TKD sprang from battle hardened troops not Hollywood inspired fiction..

It’s fascinating to consider fighting styles. My impression (currently!) is that it might be a good philosophy to ensure coverage of all ranges (with MMA at least). The prevailing strategies always seem to evolve over time as more and more widespread popularity is associated with practice of MMA. I think currently it might be advantageous to be very well practiced and tested in the basics (and mixing) of for example; 1) BJJ or shoot wrestling or Even judo 2) Muay Thai for close striking 3) Boxing 4) TKD for ranged attacks. Interesting I think these days, TKD and Karate are ‘back’ in ‘the mix’ as they allow an extra ‘edge’, opening people up with element of surprise…. 🙂

That being said, within the context of the video, tkd can be pretty surprising on a street self-defense scenario. People often don't expect to be hit with a heavy kick to the ribs the second they get into your kicking range, which is huge for a trained athlete.

This video is so wrong.. I've trained in tkd since I was a child and have been competing for 10 years. I wanted to prove tkd was good so I trained for 1 month of boxing drills with the owner of the school. I entered a kickboxing match at Advanced level. I'm 5ft 11in tall and in decent shape. The guy I fought was 6ft 1in tall and was ripped and experienced. He was even sponsored by a boxing brand. I knocked him down several times. His face was bleeding from his eye, nose and mouth. I won my unanimous decision. 1 month of boxing drills from a tkd master and over 10 years of tkd competition experience took out an experienced kickboxer. Tkd for the win. I did the same with a golden glove boxer for fun. This time no kicks and I trained in boxing for another month. The advantage is I was able to fight south paw or regular equally. This is from tkd training. Again, won every round. Tkd teaches so much more than kicking. Teaches you to use your body more efficiently. Your balance and coordination is elevated. Your depth perception is enhanced. Your ability to respond to strikes coming at you is enhanced. From all the speed and endurance training, you are able to move with increadable dexterity. This is what matters in a street fight.

Depending on where and from who you learn Taekwondo, it is not necessarily *only* Olympic sparring techniques that you see in this video. Most Grandmasters will teach more than just sparring techniques. This includes Hap Ki do, and other techniques that are strictly for self-defense. Tang soo-do which is strongly related to Taekwondo should also be mentioned. Besides the two large organizations: ITF and WTF, there are numerous private organizations that vary widely in what they teach. For example, I first learned Tang soo-do and learned grappling, Hap Ki-do and sparring. I do agree that in general Taekwondo teachers don't teach grappling techniques which are useful in street fights. However a well place back spin hook kick or back kick can stop the attacker quickly. My grandmaster was attacked on a golf course by 4 other men with golf clubs and defeated all of them with just kicking techniques. So it can be very effective with the well trained practitioner.

@Morten MadsenDude, do you know what an actual street fight among adults is? It's not fist fight after school man. You go on the ground with your BJJ, five of my buddies show up to stomp the shit out of you because you ATTACKED ME. You harass me and I kick your head off in split second, before you even know I can kick that high, because I don't have "Martial arts, beware!" tattooed on my forehead. Then police shows up and we both end up in jail, or very least I get off because it's ruled as self-defense. That's the actual street brawl in adult world men. There are no rules, but there are consequences.
@njmfff
@njmfff 3 жыл бұрын
@Morten Madsen Firearms are illegal in most countries. Not every place has same laws like USA. I don't know if you lack ability to understand thing or you take everything at face value. Take a deep breath and rethink what people have said to you, don't just assume the worst about them. I was obviously giving example that you will most likely never see those TKD kicks coming, because people usually don't expect someone to be trained in some fighting style. At best they think you have some brawling experience if you "look tough". That was the entire point, I only used myself as an example, not to "sound cool" or "angry". You're simply projecting hard here, and whatever unresolved emotional issues you have to only assume worse in people are really not my concern and neither I care about your private life as it's irrelevant to question "Is TKD viable in street defense?". Public brawls and fights are illegal, so it doesn't matter when police shows up, you will be brought in for questioning, and you always need to consider that before engaging in any public fight, even if it's defensive. TKD has punching techniques, they are only not used for Olympics competition which is point-based, but nothing stops you from using it in street fight. Also, I will not further reply to you, you managed to get into arguments with everyone and you come off as judgmental and projectionist, so you're kinda just waste of time. It's amusing when people lack self-awareness. Cya in maybe 20 when you do emotionally mature and grow up.

My Taekwondo Master started and I TF and went to WTF style taekwondo and now teaches us and he is a fourth-degree black belt we learn self-defense every once in a while like more Street fighting skills also we get taught multiple ways to do techniques . and we talk about street fighting situations whenever we’re learning a technique in class and how it would be effective he is a very good taekwondo teacher .but some controversy in our schools because he teaches differently even though we are a branch of kukewon I think is very effective it just matters who is Teaching you and if some instructors have experience and other martial arts and can teach you tactics to get away. We used to have aikido mixed in our program and it was amazing. I miss that so much but some of those technique stay with you forever. As we get higher in the levels he lets us choose which way is more effective for us. Which is usually not a thing in taekwondo schools. It might hinder our score during test sometimes though.

When asking the "is it effective in a street fight" question, you should consider: compared to what? Will someone with 3 years of Taekwondo training be better off in a street fight than the same person who sat on the couch for 3 years instead? Yes. They will be stronger, faster, more flexible, and have more control of their own body. I think that's what most people are looking for when they start up martial arts; to be a better version of themselves. And I think TKD delivers on that. If instead you're looking to be the biggest badass in the UFC, then yea, probably not the best choice of training.

I trained in Judo for 10 years, achieving 1st. Dan Black Belt. I the n trained in Tae Kwon Do (WT) for thirteen years achieving 2nd. Dan Black Belt. The very different styles c supplement one another; i.e. distance/offensive & close/defensive. To use martial arts spontaneously you will need to have trained rigorously and regularly for at least four years. Other factors supporting your engagement in a fight include, fitness, reflexes & confidence. My master TKD instructor would quote "Pyung Ahn - peaceful confidence. Tiger doesn't need to roar in the jungle." In the 80's I was a "bouncer" for three years at a terrible nightclub know for trouble; the money being good. I had many encounters with trouble makers. I was never hit. My objective was always to control the situation expediently and effectively. I left after, along with another TKD practitioner, having dealt a blow to a bikie gang who then put a contract out on the both of us. This is just my experience.

This is one of the few videos that accurately addresses the point of contention with whether or not martial arts are effective: Do you train them for the real world, for the ring, or solely for self-development? People who train for the controlled environment of competitions will always be at a disadvantage of those who train for reality. Competitions have one opponent, boundaries, nothing to hit your head on when you fall, a somewhat cushioned surface, a referee, rules, and a medical staff on standby. In the street, one punch and then hitting your head on the way down could be the end of your life. If you're the MMA type, one take-down on that untrained guy your fragile ego wouldn't let you walk away from, he hits his head, he dies, and you go to prison. Or, maybe you take him down and pulls out a knife, stabs you repeated, kills you, and walks free because you crossed the line into reasonable fear of imminent great bodily harm or death with your actions. Real-world self-defense is not getting into mutual combat. It's being -forced- into combat against your will. You effect an immediate injury and then you get to safety. That's the difference. If your art teaches you otherwise, you're not studying self-defense.

The dilemma martial arts and hand-to-hand combat systems and their practitioners face is the same one militaries and police forces have dealt with for a very long time. Namely, how to make the training realistic-enough to be worthwhile, yet without injuring the students/learners such that they can no longer take part? The military has a saying: "The more you bleed (suffer) in training, the less you bleed in battle." That's true, but just as obviously, it can be taken too far. Especially in today's litigious societies where people sue one another at the drop of a hat, and where in some nations, it is now literally a "crime"to defend yourself against an assault. Militaries (the proficient ones, anyway) train almost constantly, since short of actually going to war, training hard and realistically is the next-best alternative. But combat-experienced soldier also know that surviving one battle is superior in terms of preparation to ten-times the amount of training. Even if it imparts something as simple as the will to resist, martial arts training can be useful, useful enough in fact to save your life. The story is told of a woman, a doctor or nurse, something like that, who trained to a high level in one of the traditional East Asian martial arts, getting her black belt and so forth. Walking to work one night she was assaulted. The attacker - a much larger and heavier man - grabbed her in a bear hug and was trying to subdue her to do harm to her. The woman's years of training deserted her in the moment of truth. She forgot how to do all of the fancy techniques she had been taught. But she had learned not to be a victim, how to resist - so she did: By clawing the man's face to ribbons with her finger-nails. The attacker fled and was later caught. May not have been pretty but it worked. The question then becomes: Did her martial arts training "work" or not? I'd argue that it did; even though she couldn't perform a fancy technique when the chips were down, she knew enough to resist effectively, and that's what counts in the end.

Kicks are very effective in street fights, just maybe not high kicks - unless the opponent is intoxicated or unable to see you. Low side kicks to the knee caps are very good if you're fast and accurate, which requires a lot of practice. And when they're trying to get up off the floor, you can boot them as hard as possible in the head or the torso like a soccer ball; though this should only be done to defend yourself or others, and not in an arranged street fight as it could quite possibly kill, or permanently brain damage, the opponent.

I m living in a pretty harsh environment were people detect me in a second as a stranger from another Race. My weapons are a Pen and a lighter, they are not forbidden to carry. But the best self defense is being at home early, gaining respect of people by being a nice human being and having the support of Your Neighbourhood. Without solidarity of the people surrounding You it s a miserable and dangerous life wherever You may be. Minimize the risks. If You look for street fights the fights will find You! It is a spiritual thing. The best victories are the fights You can avoid! Knowing to have a strong mind and body gives You self conscience. If You have this You don t have to test Yourself in street fights. This is the true common spirit of any self defense sport: respect and mental strength. I recently saw a Video were 2 guys beat the shit out of each other because they bumped into each other. As a man of manners You apologize and everything is o.k. In my neighbourhood You loose respect if You get into fights all the time. Respect is NOT coming from winning physical fights, don t try that, it never has worked and it never will. It s making You smaller instead of bigger. Self defense is a good thing to learn. Physical and mental benefits are enormous. As far as my experience goes people practicing Taekwondo, Judo, Aikido, Boxing, MMA, Capoeira- they are mostly nice and interesting people worth it being Your friends. I also met some incredible and aggressive Arseholes learning self defense on a low level which is just enough to harm others. But I this human rubbish is the exception, most masters will block and discipline them within no time.

It is a lot better to know how to use Taekwondo than not being able to defend yourself. You can recognize a potential threatening situation and better than having to defend yourself, walk away unharmed. The speed can be used as an advantage if the other guy does not expect it. I miss the times when I practiced ITF TDK.

The bottom: line fighting in a controlled environment and if you've been in a fight ever you'll know what to do. So if you know how to fight from the beginning no specific martial art is going to be useless. Stop bashing please!

@ Courtney Ellis: Your comments are right on the money. There's the old saying: "Chance favors the prepared mind." Martial arts training, other kinds of self-defense or hand-to-hand training ... whatever it is, chances are it is better than nothing. I've instructed martial arts for a long time now, and prior to that was a student. A responsible instructor does expectation management: You must teach your students that there is no such thing as a fool-proof system that can handle any situation or assailant(s). Murphy is always lurking; prepare for the unexpected, because it will probably happen. The best anyone can do is train hard, toughen up mentally and physically, and try your hardest to become a better person. And that's one thing the traditional East Asian martial arts do well: The moral component. By the time you have learned literally how to kill someone with your bare hands, you no longer want to do so, if you ever did in the first place. Martial arts are really, when you get right down to it, about self-mastery if they are about anything at all. At least that was my experience.

That's fine by most teakwando fighters we'll just keep knocking the opponent down every time they get up if they pick up a weapon we'll then it's life or death at that point and we can end a fight in one hit if it came to that point

There are still old-school programs with hardcore instructors in them, if you have the determination to find them. Do plenty of window-shopping and sampling of places, watching their workouts, maybe doing a few to try them out, along the way and you'll eventually find something that makes sense for your needs. Keep an open mind, too, since so many styles and practitioners have worthwhile things to offer.

I have great respect for taekwondo... With that being said. My choice for me. If I had to select fighting systems, I'm choosing wrestling and boxing.. I'll learn kicks in my own time.. You could do kickboxing and jujitsu Aswell. But I think wrestlers and boxers are generally better athletes because I think those two fighting styles are put more emphasis on physical conditioning and I think physical conditioning is more important than technique. I've heard somewhere that most people,the average person who take a martial art, generally are not great athletes. If your superior in speed balance power strength and just "fair" in a fighting style, you'd be better off than the person whos knows how to pull off a move, but gasses out soon and doesn't have the strength or speed etc.

It's not the style that will save you in a self defense situation. It's the person using the skills they learned and hopefully had a chance to "test" what works best for them under high stress situations is what makes the style work. The term Martial art means war art. So these styles were used in combat, the problem is many only train for fitness and to look flashy or they have not learned how to use the techniques they learned in the manner they are meant to be used for.

As a practitioner of TKD, yes, any martial art experience is better than nothing. But I will say this: my master instructor (9th Dan Grandmaster) always said that if you kick to the head in a street fight, you deserve to loose. So in a street fight gouge eyes, pull ears, and kick to the groin if you have to. But keep it clean in the ring.

If you really want Taekwondo to be effective on the street, combine it with boxing. I did ITF Taekwondo for a couple of years (blue belt) but as a tall guy I focused a lot on my kicks. Then one day I attended a kickboxing lesson and I was shocked how good they were, especially at boxing, compared to me. I really stood no chance at all.

I've practiced karate for several years (Shodan black belt). When compared to TKD, I noticed the practitioners don't focus on hand techniques as much and their arm-guarding isn't their strongest; it's just used for balance. So, I'm wondering... can TKD strengthen their punches and hand techniques along side their fancy footwork?

I think any martial art can do a lot of damage if the timing and execution is correct. However, as the video correctly points out we have to differentiate between what would work in a combat situation irrespective of the skills of the opponent and the sport that is limited by rules. Personally I train Karate (bunkai techniques) and Jiu-Jitsu because the combat skills they equip me with are realistic.

Best thing is if possible train in different fighting styles, standing and grappling, fights usually start standing up, if you can manage distance and angle and kick or punch it’s good but sometimes fighting ends up on the ground so you need to be familiar and comfortable in the situation where it’s difficult to punch or kick, just be careful if you try to learn too many things it can get confusing or you train in too many things you don’t perfect a single one

If someone wears bare knuckles, you will be alerted. But wearing hard shoes won't go unnoticed. If you use the Taekwondo kick in hard shoes or dress shoes, you can overpower your opponent with one shot. Under the premise that the kick technique is considerable. In street fights, taekwondo practitioners always wear MMA gloves or knuckles on their feet. You can kick without having to worry about hurting your foot. Skilled martial arts skills make me stronger, but that doesn't mean I'm stronger than others. The most important thing is who uses it.

I've trained in the martial arts for over 40 plus years I am now 62 years of age I have taught both taekwondo hapkita American kenpo jujitsu All these martial arts have its benefits all can be used in street fighting But there are limitations and how these combative martial arts styles are used in real street fighting Taekwondo kicks in real street fighting are very useful if the person using taekwondo with their feet can pinpoint accuracy placement it's kicks where those texts need to be the cars the max amount of damage Which is not easy in a real Street come back to fight unless that fighter knows how to use both timing distancing and knows how to read the opponents telegraphed moves ( this includes in all of the martial arts styles in real Street combat fighting ) Hapkido is very effective again when the practitioner knows how to read and telegraph the opponent's movement then make its quick move When I say quick move I do not mean hits and strikes to unnecessary Darius of your opponent's body that has minimum affect American tempo which was created by Ed Parker did win the respect of Bruce Lee because of its agility and quickness of the hands The problem with American Temple style and it's system are the very unnecessary exaggerated movements of the hands and hand strikes and elbow strikes that I have observed does not work well out in the streets even though they are quick and fast ( we call flash in the pan ) a pocket system Lacks accurate placement strikes of both hands and feet The second problem with these hand strikes is mostly the unnecessary excessive moves that are made and the displacement of ineffective strikes to the opponent's body though it looks good to the untrained eye but in reality is not effective in combat street fighting What I have done from both common sense and from body science and understanding and reading the opponent's telegraphed moves I took both the American tempo fighting system and removed as much of the unnecessary excessive movements and taught my students to do away with the frivolous body strikes with a hands and elbows that have no real effect in real street fighting and took it to his most basic common core of common Sense body science in the most vulnerable areas of the human body strikes which I have called it " fear no man's hands " 1. Common Sense knowledge Yourself and your opponent and your surrounding 2. Reading your opponent's body movement without watching his opponent's eyes or hands ( part of my common Sense teaching instruction ) 3. Teaching how to control your opponent before the fight even begins from the beginning during and the finishing of the last move on your opponent a. Common sense b. Knowledge of controlling your opponent before the fight begins during and up to the last strike c. The philosophy is simple strike in the most vulnerable areas of the human body which often is not taught in real martial arts schools because their training the students to fight by standard rules Standard rules there are no standard rules in the streets !!!!! Yes I teach to fight dirty My system was originally trained for females to take out 280 lb guys d. Get the fight done and over with in 2 to 3 seconds e. My system that I created is called combat tempo very similar to krav maga Even in krav maga in the films and videos I have watched and studied still I see the same problems that persist like an American tempo excessive movements and excessive and ineffective strikes to the body is not practical for the streets It is a good close quarter hand fighting combat system and very effective for the most part What it looks like many martial arts schools they do not use the principal of common Sense that I teach prior to the fight and often repeating the same traditional mistakes which could jeopardize the most effective fighting system because they're looking at the wrong thing when facing their opponent. I do not consider my system to be a superior system but I do consider my system a very solvent system based on the first rule before a punch a kick or anything else is done and that is the knowledge of common Sense and what to look for and then how to react and then how to implement it to your immediate situation when facing an attacker Remember all systems are martial arts have a valid in most wonderful aspects and dimensions but when it comes to combat street fighting you are put in a total different situation I don't care who you are male or female your age your height your size or your weight is irrelevant at this point One last thing about my system that I use I actually trained Martial arts students to get rid of the whole concept of what they've been taught by their own sensei's , sabunims , and other Masters in teachers of other martial arts styles and systems. How do I know my system actually works? I've been in 4th Street fight confrontations and I never once had to ball up my fist It was all open hand strikes I use the same principles of common Sense that I've talked to my students that I have used myself as an old man !!!! My confrontations are done and finished in no more than 3 seconds ! That is correct Every one of those fights with different because my surroundings were different my opponents were different in shape and height and physical strength But as I stated earlier that did not matter to me The same common knowledge of common Sense was used in all those various different situations that did not change in the results were still the same and its outcomes ! You are most welcome to call me at my phone number 863-614-4412 I live in the Tampa FL 33617 area And yes I'm older man as I said that does not matter and I am a disabled veteran and that still does not matter I teach private classes I hold International credentials from the Kukkiwon If you call me and I do not answer right away please leave your name and the best phone number I can call you back at Again I teach private lessons and you would train with me twice a week 2 hours of training and physical conditioning included If you would also like to learn taekwondo as part of your training I can teach you Taekwondo ChungDoKwan ' Blue Wave ' I give belt and certification in compliance with the educational curriculum of taekwondo
