Actually Taemin said in an interview that this comeback was going to be a new turning point for him, a new sound and a new imagen of himself as an artist and said that he knew there would be some that maybe will not like this new sound of him, but he didn't care anymore about it, that he will do what it makes HIM happy and he's especially proud of this comeback. Honestly I feel that Criminal is one of his best title tracks and it's getting a lot of love from fans and nonfans too! The album is really good, definitely different from previous Taemin's albums, BUT STILL so him! Ace such a great Taemint and shawol, I'm just happy that you like it! I was waiting for your reaction the most!

It feels new but, at the same time, it is so Taemin. So, I'm surprised that someone can don't love it. The album is great! I love every single song. I wasn't impressed by 2kids at first, but now, i love it.

Absolutely! He's been in this industry long enough not just as a member of SHINee but as a solo artist so I hope he's able to do more of what he wants. He's got a decent core of stable fans at this point. I can't wait for Act 2. :)

I don't see why people who liked his music before wouldn't like this song tho(?). It's still in the same genre and has the same vibes as his other comebacks..

@@tenerife_sea Honestly i'm a little surprised by their reaction too bc 2 Kids if anything would've disappointed more casual fans who ONLY know Taemin for his dancing and works like Move and Want and not his slower, more emotional works either solo or with SHINee. Criminal is definitely closer to what people are familiar, I agree. I think it's just because Taemin has done SO much already that the bar has been raised so high that he's only really competing against himself at this point. If this came out by somebody else maybe it'd seem more mind-blowing.

It's about Stockholm Syndrome. He considers this Masterpiece. He wants this to be the turning point in his career and I think he did just that with this album. I hope they release Act2 soon, like next month. You have to listen to this WHOLE ALBUM because each song is a story that connects to give the entire picture of who Taemin is, not just what we see. The dude is deep.

I'm a little surprised they didn't point out the choreo with his hands being tied up at the beginning or much of the dancing, but there may have been a lot going on. I guess not everybody can be in love with it but I absolutely thought Taemin upped his best for this!

The tied hands part that he did, he has done it in a few of his previous MVs before especially noticeable in Press Your Number and Famous MVs

I think the problem is the camerawork in this mv was not particularly suited to catch all the beautiful intricacies of his dancing, since it panned around, zoomed in, and switched scenes a lot it was hard to focus on his dancing unlike in Want or in Move where his dancing was the ONLY thing you could focus on. I myself was somewhat disappointed that I couldn’t see a lot of his dance, so I’m so glad there’s a dance practice to check out!

Nah this is Taemins best title track. The last chorus is absolutely stunning and is constantly on repeat. The album is brilliant. I still havent decided if it topped press it for me, but its really close. Taemin said this album is a turning point for him and that he doesnt care if people like it or not. Which i am so happy about. I want him to make music that HE wants to make. I can't wait for act 2 that comes out in November i want to see where he takes this new sound.

When I first heard this song, Taemin's vocals on 1:49 and 2:57 were so breathtaking, I had to take a very deep breath. Taemin's high notes are so incredible in this song, I can feel it deep down in my entire soul. The high notes are my favorite parts of the Criminal song, I mean, DAMN, Taemin's voice really echoed deep inside me. The visuals and the choreography is colorful and mesmerizing, the darkness of it is captivating. Taemin looks beautiful, as always. Taemin is definitely the king of his Lane. He has the right amount of sexiness, naughtiness, sensuality, confidence, and experience to enjoy, while watching him move/dance smoothly and effortlessly throughout this whole video. The way he expresses his art is brilliant and unique. Taemin is absolutely amazing on all levels. Anyway, I always enjoy your reactions, guys. This song is very Taemin. I think Taemin's song doesn't need a "explosion point", every Kpop song has "explosion point" nowadays, beat change, fast-speed rap, really energetic chorus... I'm not saying these are not good, I mean Taemin's music has his own unique vibe which is being ELEGANT the whole time even though his lyrics are passionate. I don't know how to describe how I feel but the reason why we always call him God Taemin is not just bcs his superior dancing and singing skills, it's also bcs of his “dispassionate but passionate” style (bruh I wish there is someone can understand what I'm saying). That SuperM trailer of Taemin gave us this kind of feeling. He was standing on the top, with calm face, under red lights, looks elegant, know-it-all, and dangerous at the same time, just like a God. This kind of image is also reflected in his music style. Taemin is the one and only, not just in Kpop, also in the whole world. There is no one can be like Taemin, and Taemin is not a copy of anyone. I've always thought so.

Exactly! And imo, Criminal also had explosion points in the bridge with "Destroy me more" & his adlibs in the last chorus. What I like about this song is that your ears won't get tired of listening to it on repeat. A lot of times, when we have certain songs on repeat for too long, it can start to hurt our ears with the high notes etc. But the mixing in Criminal is done so consistently, including the adlibs in the last chorus, so I can have it on repeat for hours & hours. I haven't stopped listening to it since it came out. All other Taemin songs in previous albums have taken the backseat for me.

Oh wow, this is surprising - to me it has a total vibe and impact of a strong comeback song! I love the arrangement - how it sounds sort of retro, but with a modern flair. The beat is absolutely intoxicating and it’s so catchy, the more I listen to it the more it gets stuck in my head. To me Criminal comparing to Want showcases Taemin’s vocals even more and the dance is insane. Also the whole album is a masterpiece - so diverse, so musically mature and perfect I honestly have no words. King Taemin!!!

People are different. When 2 kids came out, I liked it, but not that much. But when Criminal came out, I fell in love immediately! I love the song, the MV and the dancing. I personally think Criminal and Press your number are his two best MVs, in terms of visuals and production in general. Please, listen to the album!!!

The song is about his passion/enslavement for dancing. A passion that is somehow painful (hard work, life of an idol) but still magnificent. He cannot get away from this passion .He welcomes all the pain endured (destroy me more) for all the joy it gives him. He becomes his dancing. He is not only the best dancer, technically speaking, but what he adds to it is the emotion. His movements are words. He sings and dances his lyrics.

i think he beat every other release with his new album and criminal is great in every point. the vocals, the production, the lyrics, dance, voice once again.....each time i try to see any other artist taemin makes me forget about them. he is superior for me. the beauty of the music that it is different and each and everyone have different taste. i didn't like danger at all at first, and i haven't paid attention to his "under my skin" mv, but i totally love them right now. not because of taemin, but because of the music and the vocals.

The MV has SO much content in it. And the lyrics are just DOPE. This whole song is about the Stockhome Syndrome. The dance is SO complicated and goes perfectly with the lyrics. Taemin said this was a turning point in his career because this has a very different flavour from his previous works. It is a COMEBACK SONG and is AMAZING. Maybe it wasnt the type of music you expected or the type of music you like. But THIS COMEBACK IS JUST STUNNING. I would suggest a proper review and a rewatch. Thank you.

I usually agree with your reactions 100%, but this time I don’t know what happened or what mv Dame and Bang Bang were watching. This mv is phenomenal ! The choreography is amazing, the section where they layered Taemin’s voice so he’s harmonizing with himself so beautifully done. This mv blew me away, it’s a 10 out of 10.

The song and the whole comeback is incredibly a *MASTERPIECE & WELL-MADE* . I think y’all wasn’t paying attention to the song nor the meaning behind the lyrics or the beauty of choreography more than paying attention to the visual side of the music video.

Personally, it's totally fine if a song doesn't vibe with you guys (although I'm living for Ace's side eye to the camera because that was me). I stan SHINee & Taemin but I've had releases from them that I was "meh" on too. It happens! Although I adored this release and totally vibe with it myself. I think it's peak Taemin. It harkens back stylistically to his solo debut "Danger" - but edgier and I love that. Out of all of Taemin's releases, this feels like the one that showcases him as an artist the best.

Criminal is a masterpiece. The synth, the bass, the mixing, the vocals, the choreography, the entire MV, styling and production is above and beyond what anybody in Kpop has ever come up with. If you can’t see that then you need to find another day job, cos it’s painfully obvious. Or you should not be reacting to things at first listen cos it seems like guys need more time than others to process things

TAEMIN multitalent,BEST SOLO ARTIST SM💗💗💗Taemin is phenomenal, his art is simply mesmerising!!! I love everything about this video and this album is sensational as a whole! It's Act 1 and there will be Act 2 in the future, so for sure another MV with powerful performance (this is what he promised and he always keeps his promises). Taemin King!!💗💗💗I noticed after he pulls off his bindings he continues to keep putting his hands back together again throughout the video as if to say he can't get away from the bindings or toxic relationship he is in...it keeps pulling him back into it. BangBang, I wouldn't be surprised if this one did grow to be your favorite. I liked it the first time around but totally fell in love with it the next couple listens. And the album? Wowowowowowow so much experimentation that really paid off - reached the 'chill electronic' fan in me. (i.e. Morcheeba, Massive Attack, Sneaker Pimps)

I love TEN and TAEMIN so much and I can see that TEN has been inspired by TAEMIN alot. This song got me into TAEMIN and he become my bias ( am a shawol) I kinda see 28 reasons from Seulgi as a response to Criminal.

This songs is DOPE.. I mean nobody is supposed to like all Album songs like we all are different. But one thing about this songs is that it describes him as an amazing Solo artist who put all his effort and dedication into this. I am proud of him. He doesn't even have to do anything related to sexuality to show who he is. His music is really my personal music preference. For me its one of the best songs I've ever listened ever cuz I really felt this vibe. Anyway thank you guys for the reaction

On a first listen, I liked it but not as much as some of his other songs. But I'll say that with each successive listen, I've liked it more and more and now I really, really like it.

In the context of this entire album, the song flows really well. Most times these days I have to go relisten right after my first listen w/o the visuals cuz the entire vibe just hits differently.

the adlibs he was doing at the end of the song make me so fuckin happy i swear,, love the grande finale feel it gives but honestly I would have loved for more of that vocal work to be through out the entire song, or at least come in a bit earlier... criminal has that good ole "taemin" sound and vibe that i'll never get tired of lol. i kind of agree that i felt a little underwhelmed until the end verse came in, but the song def grows on you!! "clockwork" on the album really makes me feel emotional, and the production on "waiting for" is crazy!!! thanks for ya'lls reaction
