It's very hard for SM artist to make their own song and submit it to the company for approval because SM has a very high standard for their songs, they have alot of top tier song writer composer in kpop industry. So Taeyeon also just sing the songs that already made for her, she just to choose which song to sing or she can also pick which songwriter she wants to work with and the songwriter can make the song based on her request.

While GG is known to be a legendary girl group in kpop... Taeyeon, on her own right, has won many awards for her solo career. She is known to be the OST Queen because of how many songs she has in K-Dramas. And rightfully so since her voice has this great ability to convey emotions so well. "IF", as you've heard, is a great song and it really put her beyond the trope of just being a kpop star but a serious vocalist. You should really check out other OST songs she has, notably "I love you" (live version), "missing you like crazy". Taeyeon's Killing Voice video just recently added English subtitles. You might have just missed it by a few days xD The first OST "All About You" (literal translation is "A Poem Titled You") is for the drama "Hotel Del Luna" with Yeo Jin Goo and IU as lead. To answer your question, Taeyeon has not officially acted except for some short cameos. The second OST "If" is for the drama "Hong Gil Dong". Taeyeon's OST was a national hit that year along with another OST she released the same year called "Can You Hear Me". Funny you thought she doesn't look like someone that has a 15 years old song xD She does look really young. Taeyeon officially debuted in 2007 with Girls' Generation making this, her 16th year in the industry. She was born in 1989 and is 34 years old.

No, unfortunately taeyeon is not an actress. She stated in one of her interviews that she doesn’t want to dwell in another profession but only singing.

just saying this, but Taeyeon is not interested in acting. She did a musical several years ago, but she said she didn't like the experience because she found it hard to focus on acting and singing at same time. As someone mentioned, the only times she did serious acting were her short cameo appearances in a kdrama and a film. She mostly focuses on singing career, unlike some of her fellow Girls' Generation members.
