Listening to the details of this song makes me realise that Taeyeon singing technique is seriously no joke. You will realise this song is hard af to sing to once you try it. She makes every song sounds easy to sing but it’s actually complicated af. As expected, I stan the right person. Rather than calling her an idol, I think the word underestimates her talent. She’s a true artist. Every word she sings has turned into magic and it feels like she’s telling you a story.

Idk, I just find “jikyeojulge” so comforting, (it means “I’ll protect you”) I’m not Korean and I don’t speak Korean, but I’ve watched a few dramas to familiarize the meaning. So unconsciously, when I hear someone say it in a drama or sing it in a song, I feel at ease and butterflies fill my stomach, when I heard this song somewhere, i already loved it. It was calming and beautiful, but when I heard “ Jikyeojulge”, It became one of my favorites, the way she sings and says it. Idk. Something about that makes my really happy.

As a small correction: the term that that's use in is actually for short term and only use in cases where you need to speak fast. If you are learning korean the term that you would use as "I'll protect you" is actually 나는 너를 지켜 주겠어 (naneun neoleul jikyeo jugess-eo). I know this comment is a little unecessary but I just wanted to point out if you are interest in learning korean 😊

What really hit me about this song are the beautiful harmonics, especially in the second part (after two minutes into the song). The piano part is amazing and the chord changes surprise me everytime. The voice of Taeyeon drags one into another realm. It is on repeat-play ♥️

In my opinion as a music teacher, Taeyeon is not an idol or an artiste, she's a musician. She might not know how to play an instrument or compose, but her understanding of music is extremely developed. The way she phrases her melodic lines and gives prominence to certain notes, the ends of the slurs, her dynamic control. Everything screams an extremely high innate understanding of music. If you ever wonder how is it she always seems to know how to make a simple melody sound emotional, it's the reasons above.
