Assalam alaikum, *Significance of Fig and Olive...* Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) takes an oath on Fig, Olive, Tur Sina and Makkha city in Sureh At-Tin. In explanation of the sureh Scholars gave significance of Olive and Fig fruit. But does Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) really mean here Olive and Fig fruit. Is it not odd Allah takes oath on two fruits and on other two places. What does Allah means by taking oath? Allah making them a witness. If so, then every Fig and every Olive grows can be a witness... What is the essence of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) revealing this sureh, what is the message Allah wants to convey the mankind... Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) says: { لَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ فِيٓ أَحۡسَنِ تَقۡوِيمٖ◌︂} We have certainly created man in the best of stature; And then says: { ثُمَّ رَدَدۡنَٰهُ أَسۡفَلَ سَٰفِلِينَ◌︂} Then We return him to the lowest of the low, In the above two ayahs Allah says that He has created man in the best of the stature (honour) and then He plunged the man to the lowest. Here highest of the sature Allah means, He created the man on Fitrah, inserted the most precious Soul into a man and to the lowest is that the man is born from a drop than into a body with instinct. Allah says: Does man not consider that We created him from a [mere] sperm-drop - then at once he is a clear adversary? (Ya-Seen 36:77) Allah created the structure of Adam (عليه السلام) long back, but when the Soul was inserted Allah ordered the Angels to prostrate. And then the instinct of the body made Adam to error. Futher Allah says in the sureh at-Tin: إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ ◌︂ فَمَا يُكَذِّبُكَ بَعْدُ بِالدِّينِ ◌︂ أَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ بِأَحْكَمِ الْحَاكِمِينَ ◌︂ Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, for they will have a reward never ending. So what yet causes you to deny the judgement day? Is not Allah the most just of judges? In the last ayah Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) questioning, is He not The Most Just. But He being The Most Just what relation is with the oath taking. Something is missing of His message here. *Totally this is my view, if I'am wrong Allah forgive me.* Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) together Tin and Fig making witness to one incident, Mount Sinai and Makkha to other two incidences. Firstly, here Allay may mean Mount Olive by Olive and on its eastern side is a village called Bethphage, which means 'house of figs'. The second is Mount Sinai and third Makkha city. In what relation Allah is making them witness by taking oath. Prophet Esa (عليه السلام) being a human reached to the zenith of the mark of devotion Allah raised him alive into Heavens from the Mount of Olive. Prophet Musa (عليه السلام) reached to the zenith of mark of obedience he could speak to Allah on Mount Sinai. When even angels are not permitted to speak to Allah, except Jibrael, Michael and Israfeel. Allah says: Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, (is of) the Most Gracious. No power they possess to talk to Him. (An-Naba 78:37) Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) heing a human reached to the mark of zenith in obedience, Allah journeyed him beyond seven heavens (Mairaj), even where Jibrael not allowed and it was from Makkha city. Thus Allah making Fig & Olive, Mount Sinai and Makkha city witness of the incidences of The Prophets Esa, Musa and Muhammad (ﷺ) Now the message is complete. The Prophets were the most righteous obedient and devoted. Allah being The Most Just rewarded them with unusual favours. And finally when Allah has rewarded the righteous in this duniya, then there should be no doubt of Allah being Just and being rewarded on The Day of Judgement for good deeds. But today man is just living complying to animal instincts, feeling hungry eating, feeling tired sleeping, longing for wealth accumulating, being greedy grabbing others' unjust and unconcerned halal or haram, most of all obeying and fearing the rest disobeying and not fearing Allah. All these deeds are against Fitrah and by these very actions man corrupting ones own Soul. Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala give us strength to lead a life on Fitrah not at the mercy of instincts. بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ فِي أَهْلِكَ وَمَالِكَ

Third opinion is the correct one.Tin (Fig) refers to the forbidden fruit but not the mediterrenean one but something like indian laurel tree which is also a type of fig tree. Fig,olive,Tur-i sina and makkeh matches with the verses come after as these trees and places witnessed the people who did sins.
