I love how Naim is just down to let his body hit the floor just to get the tag! Jason becoming a two-way threat in this tournament made Apex ETH even more ridiculously stacked. In previous tourneys, he was a great chaser but not as effective an evader. Parkour 59 showed up great, but was facing an uphill challenge from the get go.
@Jajek333

That's what I've been thinking as well. In my opinion, until they face a strong enough team, Jason has become a better asset than Seth. They are now both pretty much inevitable, but Jason is becoming to gather points, which Seth still struggles with. Add the absolute fucking beasts that are Schill and Sliger and you don't even need the two other spaces filled. It tells you everything when someone like Olof is pretty much the weakest link.

I've said it before, but I want to acknowledge again one of the underappreciated aspects of the event: the onscreen scoreboard graphics. As of late, I feel they have found the perfect balance of being easy to read and giving all of the needed information without taking up a ton of space.

Give Parkour 59 credit. Not only because they made it to the finals on their first tournament appearance, they also pulled off some shocking upsets against Marreo Gang, ENVY GNF and Team Phat. I knew that going up against APEX ETH is their biggest challenge and even though they didn’t get the win, I hope they keep those shocking upset highlights.

Gotta give credit to Parkour 59, they had to get some big wins to make it this far and they had some really good tags throughout this match. Finally!!! Now I don't have to be hitting refresh on my KZfaq to see if WCT posted. 1. Seth Wang just can't get that evasion. It looked like he ran the same route as Jason. 2. Jason has turned into a monster compared to their debut 3. Naim's drop-down tag to then get 12 seconds evading was hectic considering he seemed to be limping after the fall Apex E is 🔥🔥🔥

Yeah, Jason's improvement is incredible. I'll have to go back and see if he had a bit of luck running into weak chasers but he's pretty much entered the Rob/Michael tier of elite two way players. It's entirely reasonable to say that Eth had the top 3 overall players at this competition and it's not like Seth/Olof are slouches either.

Big congratulations to Apex ETH! I've been watching WCT for a couple of years now and the standard has undeniably improved MASSIVELY in that time, yet Amos Rendao has nurtured not one, but two killer teams that are right at the top of this sport. Massive respect to Parkour 59 coming in as underdogs and putting it all out there to reach the final. A stellar achievement. This is my new favourite sport. I'd love to try it myself, but I'm 47 years old and I'd end up damaging myself beyond repair very quickly methinks. Apex ETH are just too good man. I'm looking forward to see if anyone can beat them. I saw people in the comments section proposing an All star team to face them. For me the picks would be relatively easy at this moment of time: Orlando and Luke Stones (Phat) Xavia (Breach) Davis (Envy GNF) Kyle (Hollywood Freerunners) Haroon (UGen) Of course others could be considered as well, UGen has other amazing players, such a shame they weren't fit this time around, Envy GNF has also other good players, there are a lot of great French players from PK59, Blacklist and United especially but we need to see them perform more. Caryl from United would be a great shout but we didn't see him this time around.

Such a good match. Such a good way to end the tournament! I think both teams were pretty even tactics wise but Apex has 2 huge legs up -- raw speed and threading. Jason is such a good example. The dude can do these huge jukes because he can close distance between obstacles so fast that it looks like he's already taking a route vs most other players who have to sort of gesture in the direction they want to indicate. Threading-wise the entire team is comfortable getting high powered dives through basically every obstacle, but Seth and Jason both to quote the commentators are "just ethereal." Can't wait to see how europeans challenge them next time around.
@qwertyTRiG
@qwertyTRiG Жыл бұрын
That threading is a distinct weakness of some teams. I can see some chosing to train specifically for that skill before the next event. I saw someone point out that Phat, for example, rarely go through obstacles.
@liandryss905
@liandryss905 Жыл бұрын
@@qwertyTRiG Yeah, during Phat's match against PK59 both points given could've been prevented if Abdullah tried going for dives. He was so close everytime and could've definitely touched the evader if he went through the obstacles. Another massive advantage APEX ETH has, along with other teams who train on the quad (some teams have their own, or have access, or have official local WCT events) is obstacle familiarty. You can see both ETH and DOGE's foot placement are almost always on-point because they already know the quad like the back of their hand. This also ties in with your point in threading and diving!
@fightsgiantrobots
@fightsgiantrobots Жыл бұрын
@@liandryss905 Yeah Abdullah was first on my mind there. Phat probably could have easily sent Eth to sudden death if they'd had those dives (and some experience evading them) in their repertoire. And totally, the quad familiarity is huge. I saw Jason in the comments here mentioning how much they drilled some of their threading and routs and it absolutely shows. I imagine that also just compounds with their speed, meaning they're regularly practicing tactics to deal with players who can just blast through an obstacle or catch whoever on a straight.

Freaking love slieger. Slapped the mess out of him. Intense as hell but not an asshole. Does Seth not go back in because he gasses quick or because he's not that good of an evader?? It seems like they always put their #1 chaser on him, that would free up jason sliger and rob. No reason to have jugo chasing Jason and Seth. Use Seth twice just to burn jugo. But hey it worked and I'm happy for yall.

Definitely needs to be a mixed Men and Women’s event at the Olympics. Would definitely be the most exciting and most watched even at the games.

PK 69 просто повезло, что они оказались в финале. Финал Apex - Phat или Apex - Apex был бы намного конкурентнее

Definitely more of a tagger than an evader but tagging is the most important skill in this game.

PK59 with a great performance through the whole Tournament. Especially Naim is a really strong Player. But Apex Eth was just too strong. Maybe next time.

Would be nice if we could have close matches. Of course there’s always going to be an underdog, but they don’t even put up points most of the time

Parkour59, while a true dark horse, got really lucky for three reasons: 1) Phat defeated Blacklist in prior round 2) Apex Doge (arguably the true 2nd place having beat Parkour59 in group stage) was on opposite side of bracket 3) Phat's lack of depth cost them loss in semis

I gotta say, I expected ETH to win as they have got massive speed. However, Parkour 59 did a great job particularly with their movement, catching many of the ETH players off guard creating many getaway chances. I would venture to say if Parkour 59 could match ETH's speed, they may have came out on top instead.
