I had double knee replacement and have a torn rotator cuff. This is the best exercise. Thank you Rochester Tai Chi Academy for such a great experience.❤

🙌🌟🙌🌟🙌🌟 Omg! Thank you. I’ve been searching for this form for a decade!!!! ❤ Back in the early nineties I attended the greatest school on earth 🙌 I.P. S.B. in Culver City LA. We began each day with this form as it is the foundation of our bodywork practice. I’ve missed doing it and now I have been reunited ❤❤❤❤❤❤ Thank you 🙏🏻 Whatta treasure! 🐸

i really love the names of the moves. my favorite is "return the tiger to the mountain". I'm a naturalist, and i agree, we must return the tiger to the mountain.

My favorite ones when I was a younger man were: spank the monkey, and choke the chicken. Now as an older man, my favorites are: brush teeth, wash face, and hit the sack.

Seeing the actions reflected in the mirror is very useful. Unfortunately the all black clothing looses detail and makes some movements difficult to replicate. I can see the hands but not the precise arm movements.

Good, slow, video to see the movements. But I noticed the parting of the wild horses manes "ball" looked under formed and sloppy. I would compare videos with Dr. Yang to this lady and would probably use this one to learn 24 style. I have Dr. Yangs dvd and that's 3 hours of him telling you about each pose from one camera angle. With the mirror here I see more. Thanks.

I love Tai chi for what it can do in terms of balance stability relaxation QiFlow and all the other therapeutic uses of the art form. But realistically when people start referring to it as an art of combat I kind of have to shake my head. I can’t realistically see it going up against Muaythai full contact karate boxing or any other aggressive type of fighting. Just because the art has a few techniques which are blocks and strikes doesn’t mean that you’re going to be awesome if you apply the techniques in a fight. Fighting is a whole different animal requiring a specific hardSet of skills and exercises to make one proficient to defend oneself. If you’re looking for an art to help you in self-defense tai chi in my opinion isn’t the one for you

Tai Chi is a martial art and the applications are important to understand. Obviously, in an actual fight, one would need to understand and apply the speed and power against an opponent. At Open the Door to Tai Chi, we focus on the softer benefits of this gentle form of exercise.

It might help to practice the form with the 'martial' application in mind - literally. The first move where the young lady raises her hand's is a block to an incoming punch, in 'reality' you would raise just one hand - right or left depending on the direction of the incoming punch (and you would not have your arms down by your side - that would not be good in a conflict situation, you want your hands raised some, palms facing chest in a non threatening, yet 'ready to move with minimal distance to get to the block' position). Without the martial application in mind it is said that you are just dancing!

We absolutely talk about and teach the marital arts applications of each movement in our certification course and on our video membership site.

@@OpentheDoortoTaiChi Yes, that will benefit learner's - there are so many Tai-chi clips on 'KZfaq' that have no underlying substance/narrative other than looking pleasant.

I am using 2x speed to play this video and it is still very slow. I think if I play 8x, I can see the real Kung Fu behind it. And I am serious. There is real meaning behind each move for offense and defense. It is all about speed and balance when it comes to fights. If you add speed to it, you can use it for fighting.

Yes, Tai Chi is a martial art. But don't discount the benefits of doing this form slowly and mindfully, applying all of the underlying principles.

If you practice Tai Chi, or any QiGong fast, it simply doesn't work. Only very slow & relaxed movements build & use Chi. Tai Chi is for increasing your internal energy. It's not for cardio 👍
