Taibbi Hits New Low Getting Smacked Around By Dem Establishment Shills

During a House Oversight Committee hearing on the Twitter Files, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz asks Matt Taibbi if journalists should avoid accepting spoon fed, cherry picked information from sources. Taibbi says it depends on the circumstances. Wasserman Schultz then references Taibbi's recent remarks on Joe Rogan's show where he said almost the exact same thing. Rep. Wasserman Schultz follows up by asking Taibbi how much he's profited off of the Twitter Files.
Later, Rep. Gerry Connolly asks Matt Taibbi and Michael Shellenberger whether they released any information regarding the Trump White House attempting to moderate content on Twitter in their versions of the Twitter Files. Shellenberger and Taibbi both say they did not find any evidence of that in their research. Connolly then mentions the specific instance brought up by former Twitter employees regarding trump reaching out to Twitter to get a tweet calling him a "pussy ass bitch" taken down.

Clearly he is a brilliant man… However, I’ve grown weary of of today’s intelligentsia be they from the left, right or center - getting bulletins from the future from these visionaries is thought provoking but at the end of the day it’s largely about polemics and politics and speculation to my eye… But I’ll look in to him further - thanks

If that was really true than how come he only highlighted democrats asking to remove posts citing specific instances? He mentions in a single sentence that the White House was also trying to get posts removed but never says which posts they were trying to get taken down...its almost as if you are purposefully ignoring that in a obvious attempt to push the narrative that conservatives are victims. If you say "This is happening on both sides" but all your examples and focus seems to be only against one side doesnt that prove you are being biased? If I said "All Religious fundamentalism is bad" but then just spent the entire time only talking about Christianity every single conservative would be screaming about how i was attacking Christianity and none of them would defend me by saying "but his first sentence said all religious fundamentalism is bad so why are you accursing him of attack Christians? While he was at TYT, Dimwit Dore was asked a number of times what it would take for him to become a right winger. He responded honestly each time. He said he would if he was offered enough money. And given his duplicity since he switched, ideology had nothitng to do with it. He's edited many videos, w/o telling us they were edited. Some were done so poorly that a blank spot was abvious. When he's been outed for Bs and lies, it's never his fault. It's always somone on his payroll and he has no problem firing them for it, never taking responsibility as the boss. He's a lying POS and good riddance for him sliming his way over to the right.

Taibbi specifically said that requests came from the Biden campaign and the TRUMP WHITE HOUSE. I would have asked him since he stated that to provide all the instances where that happened and provide details of every encounter with the Trump White House. It is absolutely infuriating that no one on that committee made that request. Jesus 🤦‍♂. I would have had his tweets where he said that on a giant comically large billboard and then pressured the hell out of him to explain EXACTLY what the Trump WH was requesting. EVERY SINGLE INSTANCE, because Jim Jordan next me said he's concerned about the first amendment. Biden was a private citizen, Trump was representing the government.

It's possible to believe that there is substance to the Twitter files and criticize his reporting on these files. I definitely would have been concerned about the trump white houses demands of Twitter. I think what we see from taibi is unsatisfactory. If someone hands you a story with holes in it. Hold it for long enough to fill some holes. If they're unwilling to give you some time to check their info it's because they don't want you to fact check it. It's not unreasonable.

I consider Matt's coverage of the financial crisis the best journalism, on a very complex and nuanced issue that the general public (especially me) didn't understand at all, ever. When Matt is at his best he's easily one of the most effective journalists we've seen. I subscribed to Rolling Stone specifically to read his content. These days I still appreciate him and I am more in agreement with him and Glenn Greenwald on the issue of the "deep state" controlling discourse and information. The 1st amendment historically was always a sacred cow on the left and it always will be to me, no matter how much the left betrays it as they lose their minds. All that said, Matt fucked this up by his own standards and I don't understand why he did it.

If you listened to Taiibbi's response, which one of the republicans allowed him to give, Taibbi said most journalists' sources always have ulterior motives. As a journalist you weigh the importance of the information with the veracity of the information regardless of who your source is. Journalism 101. The Democrat orthodoxy embodied by the establishment Democratic politicians, ignored this so they could distract away from the information itself. Politics 101.

14:18 is my whole problem wrapped up into one with Seder, that he masks a hit piece as just asking questions. He just got a response to him saying "wow Taibbi isn't following his quote on the Rogan experience that means he's a fraud" and it was that not only was it not his quote but it was of SH who did take a story from the CIA, and he immediately pivots to ANOTHER question that has an incorrect premise as he claims the twitter files only put one side of the story out there when they show that both Dems and the GOP were inquiring twitter on censoring posts. Then right after that they come back to it saying it would be as if you were to publish information on the CIA's website which would maybe be a good analogy if it was posting about past CIA coos installing right wing dictators because the Twitter files were about twitters not so good past. Doesn't mean that publishing the CIA thing would mean the current CIA does nothing wrong, nor do the twitter files explicitly mean that current twitter isn't doing anything wrong anymore. Either way the public deserves to know this information and Taibbi isn't at fault for informing people just because it looks good for right wingers in hearings (which btw won't do shit about it so it's all posturing from those right wingers anyway).

Emma is articulate and concise. Sam..... 😢, he drones without getting directly to the point. And he constantly pauses between words that loses it impact on meaningfulness. But with Taibi, he goes the route of sensationalism, and investigative journalism requires too much work for him. You have to have multiple sources to back up what you put to a 'story'.....and if it's one-sided, it's likely to be false especially without receipts. Not to mention that he's a sympathizer of the right wing.

@@letsgobrandon9867 I’m talking about buddharocket and his use of the tired “tribalism”, which is just political alignment. Buddharocket’s in particular being right wing. As for Matt Taibi, you can literally listen to the myriad of interviews he’s given on multiple platforms. One glaring instance is his ongoing obsession with “woke” student activists on college campuses. Constantly defending and having rapport right wing figures like Elon musk and Tucker Carlson. What about this isn’t consistent with being right wing. Yes, he wrote exposés on Wall Street when it was politically subversive to do so, and received plaudits for doing so. I am under no illusion he doesn’t now serve the interests of the same bourgeois capitalist class. He is a champion of the conservative status quo. Any questions?

He leads with his main points, pretends to debunk a study that explains their homelessness problem (the authors of the study said he misunderstood the study), and writes what is essentially filler for about ten chapters until he gets to the final chapter about NIMBYs and housing regulations. That's probably the only chapter that actually explains why San Francisco has so much homelessness, drugs, and mental illness- the housing is so expensive that it drives people out of their homes and they become druggies and/or mentally ill on the street, creating so many of their problems. Essentially his grift is, 'I'm the sensible lefty, the adult in the room, and I apologize for these children'. Some people eat that shit up, but it is indeed a grift.
