I *like* him, but I feel that the change in his character between "Age of Ultron" and "Ragnarok" was a bit too sudden: In the former movie he was still the kind of stoic, old-fashioned character (but a bit more relaxed than he was in the first "Thor" and "Avengers" Movies, though). And then "Ragnarok" begins and he jokes and quips like he spent too much time with Tony Stark in between films. I feel this change should have been more gradual... ...then again, perhaps Alan Taylor and Joss Whedon (and/or whoever wrote these films) are to blame here, too. Would have been even better if "Thor: The Dark World" and "Age of Ultron" had been part of this Character development too.

I got to talk to him for a minute after the Hunt for the Wilderpeople director and cast screening in Auckland NZ. He said he felt a bit guilty about leaving the NZ film industry to go to America & Marvel. I said I couldn't wait to see what he would do for Thor (That turned out hilarious and 4x more watchable). NZ has had amazing movies from him But we are too slow to give talented people money for productions. ( he had to keep making short films to get funding for feature films ). He is making the most of those huge America budgets while remaining uniquely Taika. Funny and outrageous in a way you got to love.

Americans don't get it. I saw so many of their reviews and they just didn't understand the film. They thought they waited too long for a plot in the movie, but didn't realise that boys longing for his dad was the plot the entire film. They also didn't get the humour

@MsMaggyW
@MsMaggyW 3 жыл бұрын
@@jamesramplin8124 No I meant visionist! So the story is: like localhost said, in an interview (a few years ago) he said he wanted a trailer to call him visionary; then said actually too many directors are being called that nowadays so it's not an elite club anymore basically, and they have to come up with a new word. Then he came up with "visionist", and said - one of my favourite quotes of his - "only a true visionist would come up with the word visionist" (which doesn't even make sense!). I already loved that story but then recently I saw one of his newer trailers (I think the one for Jojo Rabbit) and it actually really did say "from visionist director..." and I can't get over it. It's basically a running gag now!
