Just had a crazy idea. Will probably be too heavy, but: What about a lure made of baking soda and super glue? Built up layer by layer around a wire. Without any real carving. Lead could be attached with super glue to the wires prior. Probably a bad idea, but might be fun!

One day you'll do a one day how to make a bait retriever video. instead of snapping your line trying to yank them you could make a mould for lead and make a heavy duty inner wire structure so the lead can have something to bite into on the slam. Not telling you what to do... just figured might save you the heart attack when that happens to one of your spectacular one off hand made wood swim bait etc. Heart goes out too you for yet another fantastic video and all around great atmosphere!
