Kevin Quinn has a global stole competition going on and a couple of weeks ago I had a 27 foot landing and a 6 foot takeoff which was an incredibly good score, but I thought I could do better.
Today we had 15 to 20 mile an hour winds and I did much better! I landed in 16 1/2 feet which I was super happy with! What was really wild though was with my brakes locked up I took off on dry ground in 2 1/2 feet!! I love my Wild West Aircraft/Just Aircraft Highlander with my Edge Performance EPeX Yamaha engine!
For more information and for purchasing your own Highlander see our website at WildWestAircraft.com

@@CONEHEADDK Rains the best for fishing.
@CONEHEADDK
@CONEHEADDK 2 жыл бұрын
@@JoeCnNd That's a myth. If you are bad at hiding, the fish see you above the water. When it rains, the surface is impossible for them to see through. That's one of the reasons, that untrained anglers can have more luck in the rain. Also that most people go home, so you have access to more undisturbed water. And sometimes rain hits insects in the air, resulting in them landing on the water, where using flies that imitate them, can be effective. But if you know, what you're doing, the best weather is any weather. I just love casting (fighting the storm) bcz I'm almost always alone, and that mastering storms makes all other days pieces of cake. I really barely care about catching any more, as long as I know, the fish are there. I'm a nerd. :D

Wind Craft Quads; We had a jump-pilot do similar in the ferocious winds at Livermore, CA c. 1970, Johnny.........(a member of the WWII 'Silkworm Club'). He hovered our empty Aeronca Champ overhead and, ever so slowly, got it to back up. Parenthetically, that little plane, stripped of anything unnecessary for skydiving, could haul four jumpers wearing the heavy gear of that era and the pilot.

I became a fan years ago when I was thinking about dead stick landings. I had been aboard a glider during a dead stick landing . . . because gliders do that pretty much every time. So my brain substituted "takeoff" for "landing" and I typed it into youtube and there was Tail Drager Fun doing a DEAD STICK TAKEOFF. I almost cheered out loud. I watched that dead stick takeoff a dozen times at least. So I was compelled to follow Steve Henry's adventures. Thank you, Steve.

I remember back in the 60's they flying group took out the 65 HP and installed an 85 HP in the Aernoca Champ (my 2 uncles came out of WWII as mechanics). They took her up (8KO) and landed normally. Then they took off and landed cross-wise to the runway! After that they just took off and landed on the short taxi-way from the hanger!

As I commented on a previous video a couple of days ago, I have witnessed (in July 1977) a tiny commercial short-haul flight coming into the Banak / Lakselv airport in Northern Norway during a full storm (25 m/s, 50 knots) blowing perpendicular to the single runway: He did a zero foot vertical landing directly into the wind, so across the runway, then he increased revs to taxi over to the terminal building. In winter they had ropes strung between buildings in this area. What I'm getting at is that with your setup you could obviously do a pure VTOL given a steady headwind.

Impressed! Both by the short takeoff and the short landing, but most by the short landing! You have to arrive at the spot to do the landing, and if you misjudge it, you might stall out early and get hurt. So harder to judge. Taking off is much easier, you at least know exactly where you are when you start. I assume, I only fly in computer games. This looks insane! In a good way.
