Thank you Billy Ray!!! On the ford try removing distributor cap and watch the rotor now move the crankshaft back and forth if the rotor doesn’t go back and fort with the crank the timing chain is loose. The chain turns the cam turns rotor. Remove battery when doing this!!!

WOW, what a surprise to see a shindaiwa 488 on one of your videos. Thanks Morgan for bringing that on the show. I own two of those ones 23 yrs old and the others 14 yrs(and I'm as old as both of them) but I really like these 488's. I burn 3 to 3 1/2 cord a year and these saws fit me well. Not to heavy, easy starting and do a great job of eating through the wood. The only repair I've done is to replace the ignition on the older one. As much as I like those Husky's I can't justify needing a third saw. By the way Buckin ' the first saw I ever owned was a McCulloch saw , wish I still had it. Thanks for all the video's, most people wouldn't understand the enjoyment of this kind of lifestyle.

Just bought a lil homelite the other day. Slowly getting back into it. I did run a couple of 24” Holzfforma’s when they first released them. Got two big girls for under $1,000😳😁👌. Now there that each. Plenty of power, reliable and come with Stihl chains. When I was younger all they ran was Homelite and McCulloch in my area in Oz.

I did exactly what you spoke of, juice down the carb and fired and 8 times. I'll invest in a squirt can and keep it running to suck fuel. Always a laugh and a lesson in your videos. Also have a remington super 880, not going, yet, any tips?

I have a Makita 6421. When it sits too long (week or more) it won't start until you put fuel directly into the intake on the carb, then it starts beautifully all the time till the next time it sat too long. Other than that, i have no complaints about it. Great saw.

Very good video. I would like to see a video about tuning regarding the danger of adjusting too lean and causing the saw to freeze up. I am very worried about adjusting my saw and accidentally burning it up. In fact, I had a Mac 130 for a couple of decades and a couple years ago I was adjusting the low speed and as I was cutting it started bogging down and finally froze up. I don't know if I caused it or if it finally just got too old but since then I am very shy about touching my saws adjustments.

The big husky seams to be similar to the one I have! (2101 xp from early 90.s) but this in video is probably a slightly older model..A very good and powerful saw it is (90cc) for the heavier jobs, but can be difficult to get spare parts for it nowadays

I had a 371xpw that idled flawlessly with a bad crank seal and a hole in the intake boot but it would run hot and fall on it face if you leaned on it at all.

Buckin you could make a killing if you were able to keep and sell the top 3 inches of the big stumps you end up with. 3 feet and bigger probably, depending on the species they go for good money to crazy money. Even at the going rate I would love to purchase from you before others.

I may be mistaken bit when i first saw u turning over motor the rotor was stoping pointing to # 8 cylynder..#1 on ford is pass side front cylynder...Top dead center(TDC)is on the compression stroke ..thats when. It fires..8°or wtvr (BTDC)..before top dead center..if rotor is pionted to # 8 n youre timing mark is up n rotor is pionted to it..them thats #1 in firing order..you are 180° out..or wires are mixed up..easy to do...juss sayin.. Rotor should always be pionted to #1 on comp stroke..n ur right timing mark on tab..

Howzit Billy, Ty for all the great info on sharpening and insights over all. How many turns out to start from bottom on Low is best to start at? And same with Hi. I have a Echo cs-450 and 330T that wont start easy and idle without revving them. I am using up a case of Umion76 old out board 2 cycle oil in my saws that puts out more smoke. Dose this matter? I chain saw mill. Have a 4 foot mill on my 395 and a 8 foot on my 3120. i can’t ever figure out my 395 or 3120 ughhhh always have to just take them to a guy. I’m pretty dang handy but just can’t seem to figure it out on my own.

I bought one of those pump oil cans from autozone and filled it with mixed gas but the litle pump can wouldnt stay primed. New fangled china made can?

I always use 40 to 1 as a gas ratio instead of 50 to 1 in two stroke engines. When you are cutting with the chainsaw wide-open on big wood it hammers those little pistons pretty hard. So I always recommend using the 40 to 1 in chainsaw verses the 50 to 1 for that reason. So in my seven years of professional tree removal business I have never blown up a chainsaw doing it. The only time that has ever happened to me is when people are using there own fuel and not my saws. If you use a climbing saw to cut the base wood of a tree it really hammers those saws hard. You have to scale your cc size to the diameter of the wood that you are cutting.

Id start with tightening the chain !

Question for u bucking No doubt been asked before sorry,why do u hold the recoil when you switch off the saw. Best regards from rainy UK.

Putting the choke on helps draw the fuel into the carb. Get your thumb over the intake and she’ll prime up in a few pulls. At least pull some fuel into the carb and soften up that old diaphragm

I have a Little husky that cranks up 2nd Pole Run it to it runs out of fuel put fuel in it and will not crank to the next morning Any suggestions of what could be wrong

i was surprised around 15:36 to hear u say u i think u had a diaphragm problem they were some pretty big splashes of fuel before it died lol :p especially without being atomized
