I don’t even know why people would think it would be real. A squared off boxy device on your body for long periods of time is very uncomfortable. Even if it was a product it wouldn’t sell well.

I have 3 theories. 1. So yes ik iPhone X means iPhone 10 but it’s possible we could just be getting a Apple Watch *Series 10* this year, and a Apple Watch *X* with the redesign next year for its anniversary, as the apple watch RELEASED in 2015 (it kinda has 2 birthdays in a way as it was announced in 2014 but released in 2015) so thats a possibility. 2. This could be the equivalent to the iPhone 8 back in 2017 that launched alongside the iPhone X, giving people the option to still buy a device with new hardware but the old design, and we also get a redesigned Apple Watch X to sell along side this, ig u could call it Series 10, i’m not sure what they’d call it, and ig we would get a Ultra 3 for hardcore people who need the ruggedness or whatever. 3. Apple isn’t doing anything for the anniversary and we’re just gonna get the same old updates, which in that case i’m keeping my Series 7, just gonna have to get a battery replacement.

I don't have much faith in the rumor that Apple will replace the 2 sizes with the one 49mm Series X. That's basically cutting off a chunk of your customer base. I could see them adding a 3rd size option, that actually makes sense.

The bigger the screen gets and they keep the watch band connection, the higher the corner radius is going to be. Seems like we’re slowly moving more and more towards a circular Apple Watch.

As a series 4, 41mm user, if both sizes end up being bigger, then it kinda puts me off apple watch entirely. I might be swayed if it were thinner, or maybe the extra battery enabled some kind of Apple Intelligence features.. but tbh it’s a stretch.

Wish they leaned into buttons like Garmin and made a circular watch. I mean, there has not been a major update (my opinion) since Series 4. Sure they added Blood Oxygen sensor but it is medically not accurate and they stole the technology (not bashing Apple but honestly am unimpressed with their lack of innovation the past many years). I mean honestly, if the battery life is the same as the ultra and i just get it in sapphire glass, its a worthwhile upgrade. While sure the square design would be cool, honestly the tech has soooo peaked that battery life and screen are the only things that can improve(increase). I honestly didnt care about Apple Watches at all this yr since i didn’t see any rumor that sounded upgrade worthy. But a bigger watch and (hopefully) a bigger battery to go with it is all i could ask for.

I don’t agree with this assessment at all - I believe that the Apple Watch has plenty of room to grow and improve in the coming years. That does not mean that the Watch has significant changes every year and perhaps Apple should change the release schedule for the Watch to every two years vs one, as the current release schedule forces Apple to come up with made-up improvements to justify the new release, which prompts videos like this one

Boxy is not comfortable. The human body is not boxy, so for comfort a wearable should also not be. The design like it is now, is I think the best for the Apple Watch. Same for a round design: doesn't work. Where are you gonna leave complications? How are you gonna read text without having to scroll for each line of sentence? Just because we're bored with the same form factor for already 10 years, doesn't mean we're bored with the functionality.
