Do you think $300 is too much for a fishing reel?
@jaaron2834

For a tiny little spinner$300 no fucking way..! For a conventional bait caster, ... I'll spend up to $1000…! I don't like spinners nor do I like using them… those that prefer them can't cast a conventional reel efficiently or correctly....to save their lives…🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Spinners will always have this problem, ... Line twist! It doesn't matter if you have a swivel... It will twist your line and that's why you get wind knots and birds nest... For those that don't believe you get birds nest from a spinner... Then you're not clear on the concept of how line comes off your spool… and they have an uneducated thumb.. In a nutshell…

No, I have a couple of Shimano reels over $400 and a few around the $200 mark. You do get what you pay for, but there is a point of diminishing return. I think the sweet spot is somewhere in the $200-$500 range. As an example, I have experience with the Shimano Stella which is in the $900 price range and cannot honestly tell the difference between that and my Shimano Vanquish (JDM import) which is around $450. Hope this helps.

@@jaaron2834I use both bait casters are good and bad in some cases but definitely can’t compare the two there different reels used for different things also have been using spinners for a while never had a knot in my line with one only an occasional line wrap on tip of the rod which doesn’t matter what reel u use so really depends on what type of fishing u do

I enjoyed your video. Coming from years of bait casting reels and one or two spinning reels, I rarely spent over $300 for a reel. I would love to see a review on the 2500-3000 of the Penn Authority, Shimano Twin Power XD, and Daiwa 24 Certate LT at the $500-$550 point. This is the price point I consider the high end. The reels more expensive than $600 or more is for enthusiast. I had spent my younger years fishing $100 reels. Back then the reel’s weren’t at nice as they are now for $100, but it did the job.

@@tailwateroutfitters Thanks a lot for your reply, I was thinking to be in water with waders and definitely sometimes the reel could be submerged due to waves.. Just I had a clue about how smooth is the van staals in comparison with Japanese reels.. Also as I have seen VS has larger gear which gives much power to the reel. Just nee technology and refinements made me think which could be better.. *I live in Europe and didn't had a chance to try both of them till now..

Would not recommend a Sustain. Worst buy I have had yet. Mines squeaks and has a raspy sound after a year of use. My Stradic feels butter smooth and I have had the Stradic longer. Personally, I find the Sustain to be an overpriced Stradic. I'm already looking into replacing my Sustain for a Stella 5k or Saltiga 5k. Hope this helps. Tight lines from Hawaii!

Actually the next step down from the sustain is the vanford , then a step down from that is the Stradic. As for these 3 reels the sustain and saltist are very close but i have it #1 Sustain #2 Daiwa #3 Penn I wouldnt use a Penn if you paid me 😂 The only con with the saltist mq and daiwa in general os how thin and cheap their handles are. Ive seem so many people bend and or break the handles Also i wish people would stop using mag seal as a selling point. Thay mag seal fails more then it protects As for line capacity if someone needs more then 150 yards for your typical inshore stuff they should find a new hobby imo. Unless going for shark , cobia, tarpon , monster jacks 150 yards is way more then enough. Daiwa reels I feel are definitely smoothest reels out there but little to smooth. I feel shimano has the smoothness in that perfect sweet spot. And if buying any daiwa or Shimano reel i always buy them straight from japan. So much cheaper then the US. For some reason the states add such a price hike vs other countries
@tailwateroutfitters
@tailwateroutfitters 4 ай бұрын
True about the vanford, I just used the Stradic so each comparison was about $100 difference. Hopefully they get that handle issue figured out. I just mentioned magseal since it’s a feature they hype. Many people seem to be getting gomexus for their daiwas

150 yards on a small reel is fine. But on a large reel like a 5000 to 18000 that's not enough. Sending out a balloon or kayaking out a bait off shore or rocks needs a fair amount of line. So I'd rather have more then less line for options. My next reel will be a 10k saragosa. Most of the components are the same as the Stella but at a 3rd of the price.

@@BUBBY7Z7Z7 few things I've got Shimanos that are 20+ years old still original parts. Shimano is always #1 in sales Shimano is probably one of the most used brands on the professional level Problem is guys ( maybe yourself ) who toss their gear around vs taking care of your stuff. Thus it falls on YOU not the REEL. Also that noise you hear is the line roller bearing Literally $5 bearing and 5 minutes of your time good as new. ( 9/10 most guys are to lazy to fix it themselves ) then blame the reel for not being " durable". I've had daiwa , Penn , Mitchell , Florida fishing products and so on all have line roller bearings go bad. That part is the most abused part because it's consistently in contact with the water.
