When you wanted an electric guitar but got a ukulele instead
@bobsullivan57144 жыл бұрын
When I was a kid...We were so poor one Christmas my dad handed me a stick of stove wood and told me there was a drumstick in it if I wanted to whittle it out and I would get a drum for my birthday. On my next birthday, he just pointed to a log and said, "There's yer log. Git ta whittlin' on that drum!" Kinda makes a ukulele look good.....Don't it!

@@bobsullivan5714 don't know why it hurt to read that. Your father does sound like someone with quite a sense of humor. Also hope you got to do something musical in life. Take care. Sorry for babbling on....

@@Enigma241000 I whittled that stick of stove wood into splinters but I never found a shred of musical talent in it. It turns out that I am a talented listener....And with artists like Taimane to listen to, that's good enough. Thanks for the "Babble." Enjoyed it....

I've been picking with my fingernails for 50 years, and using my pinky finger for the anchor. I never noticed till just a few years ago watching of video of me playing that sometimes my pinky finger slips up under the strings to mute them. I am a ukulele player and find that the ukulele tends to slip a lot when I play, my left thumb gets tense in my fretting hand, and my playing sounds a bit too quiet for performing. Could you please do a tutorial on how to hold the instrument in a way that is stable and optimal in terms of resonance as well as the best fretting hand position(s)? I mostly play my tenor. I know it's just the foundational stuff, but I admire your musicianship tremendously and would be grateful to hear from you what it is that you do. I have my fingers crossed that you'll consider posting a video on this soon. Thank you!!!

I know this is an old comment - but if you are still struggling with this then try a large square of skateboard sandpaper grip tape on the back of your uke. It grips your top without ruining it and stops the slip and no one one else with straps can figure out how come your dancing around with your uke and no strap!! www.ebay.co.uk/itm/81-22cm-Waterproof-Skateboard-Deck-Sandpaper-Grip-Tape-Griptape-Skating-Board-KY/124209337063?hash=item1ceb7412e7:g:KeMAAOSwdrRXF-3b
