In April 2019 I left Belgium and started a big motorcycle adventure around the world. My plan is: take no highways, ride off-road when possible, wild camp and stay with the locals as much as you can and try to rock climb in every country.
------------------------------------------------------------------
TAJIKISTAN
If you like big mountains, steep valleys wild rivers and river crossings with awesome off road tracks, remote mountain villages and glacial lakes, then Tajikistan should be definitely on your bucket list!
The whole country is full of +7000 meter mountains, icy cold glacial lakes, dusty but very spectacular dirt tracks.
BARTANG VALLEY
this time I am riding through the infamous ND extremely remote Bartang Valley which is located deep in the Pamir mountains. It is known for unstable weather causing rapid river swells, land slides, dramatic river crossings spectacular views and hospitable people! Starting in Rushon, the valley rapidly becomes more wld, remote and eventually completely inhabited. For around 400km's there is no reception, no food supply, no back up and barely any traffic.
A wild adventure guiding you all the way to a plateau at about 4000m elevation which eventually joins up with the Pamir highway.
Enjoy,
The Story of B

My roots are from that valley, yet I have never been there. My ancestors left that counry, choosing Tajikistan's capital city, which eventually I've left too. Great adventure . Greetings from Warsaw, Poland. Alles gut

Excellent adventure buddy! Very cool video too. What time of year was this? I know your comments say you left in April but I'm wondering what time you hit the Bartang Valley?

I love this adventure! One thing that came to my mind is that after that many water sections I'm sure you have water in your boots and vet riding pants. How do you get it dry again? it's not particularly hot in that area.
@BertBoute
@BertBoute Жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! And indeed, sometimes you have wet boots for days.... 😐 But luckily during the day it's really dry air and kinda hot, so stuff dries quite fast.

Hello, nice and challenging drive with the Transalp. What period of the year was it taken?
@BertBoute
@BertBoute 2 жыл бұрын
Exactly! The transalp, well she's a bit heavy... And than was in summer (around July) early summer, late spring is probably better to cross (less water in rivers from melting snow)

Hi Bert, how did your air filter managed to stay dry at this depth? What mods did you do to prepare for these deep crossings? great video.
@BertBoute
@BertBoute 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Roh! Well, it did get a little bit wet but luckily just a sprinkle. The airbox on the transalp is actually quite good and intake is nicely covered. I do use a K&N filter, so when they're wet, you just dry them and continue! 🤟
