Of all the homes featured - Whoopi's homes are the most authentic and actually looked like they were lived in as apposed to merely being a status symbol. Her homes speak of her real estate savvy as she made money on them when she sold and every one of her homes have a unique character...

If all these are true, wow, more power to them. However, does anyone need 8 houses? The opulence is an in-your-face eff you "Look what i got.". How many people could be fed, clothed and housed with the money spent for even one of those homes? It's almost sinful. How many acres and acres of beautiful land is now owned by a select few and who occupy most of them on just a part time basis. Such a waste. Lady Gaga buys an equestrian estate, but keeps no horses? These properties stay vacant most of the year it seems so what's the point in buying? Use your money for more worthy causes like helping your fellow man.

But, that's how these celebrities' build their financial worth up is by major investments like homes, cars, art, etc. Just because they own all these homes doesn't mean that they are all empty. A lot of these celebrities offer their homes for family, friends, business associates and even lease/rent them out for either residents, vacation homes or event planning. It's just repulsive actually, to be so rich and buy multiple homes and renovate by the millions and live in a home with 15 bedrooms and multiple kitchens and 10 car garages, 23 bathrooms .. it's just so excessive, no matter the money. I live in Colorado and gardened for a very well known and extremely wealthy woman who is a philanthropist who donates a lot of her money to various organizations. She drives a 2009 Subaru. Her home is in a high priced gated community and she owns 3 lots so the lots on either side are vacant and intended for privacy because she doesn't want attention. She travels a lot but when she's home she eats toast and drinks her coffee in her quaint little kitchen, she lounges on her small little patio and feeds birds, and said she has no need for extravagant living, and she knows her fortune is meant for helping others. She once told me that as long as she has clean sheets and comfy house slippers, then she's happy. She donates over $1 mil a year to others. And she only owns 1 modest home, in a private community. This excessive lifestyle of the rich and famous is just greed and more greed.

I don’t presume the right to tell people how to spend their money. But it would be nice (plus a profitable venture) to build a town. Rent out the commercial buildings, and rent or sell the homes for a reasonable price that could produce steady income. The rich people could be the hands on mayor. Our little village was started that way, but we had to drive one town over to get out mail until we got our post office and delivery. That place was gull of churches and top ranked schools and at least regional football champions every year. I seem to have gotten off topic, but I still think is a good idea.
