What has always amazed me is that it doesn’t matter the country of origin for whatever singer, when they sing in English their accent completely disappears.

Love your comment. Seen Yes 3 times in the 70’s . Just listened to the song “Soon” by Yes . Yeah Jon Anderson always sang fantastic live . Seen Moody Blues in the early 80’s . Awesome show . Never ELP however think Lake has the strongest voice out of the 3 . Steve Perry amazing as well live . I only judge singers by how they sang live . Robert Plant I wasn’t impressed. Always said he had a cold 😮

@@Theresa939So jealous of you… 😊 to have the age that you could see them. I have, already years ago, found this type of music, it is so incredibly better than the songs that are produced nowadays, and I think nowadays music just comes from a factory. So it is very nice to hear al this ‘old’ music which even in these times is still very much advanced.

I bought their first album in 1971 when I was 15. I'm 67 now and I still have the same album on that iconic island label in it's powder blue inner sleeve. I still play it and remember when I was playing it as a kid sat around with my mates. British prog rock was untouchable then as it is now. This trio were the best of them all. Such talent. Emerson in his days with Nice. Lake with early Crimson and Palmer with Rooster and Asia - I play all of this material too. Fantastic memories. Phil Tennant. Belper, Derbyshire.

There is no band that I love watching more than ELP and this brilliant performance confirms that. I love the way they went from the incredible precision that was their hallmark to a little interlude of frivolity and then seamlessly back to their genius as musicians. Their first album was the first album I ever bought and this is one of my favourite songs of all time. I was fortunate enough to see them perform at the Isle of Wight Pop Festival in 1970, the year they formed. Greg Lake's pure voice will always be my favourite voice of all time. They set the bar so high and will never be equalled.

Can't put into words how much I love these three geniuses. And how sad I am that Keith and Greg are no longer with us. There are people who should be immortal because we need them with us so badly and forever, generation after generation. Their music, their tremendous skills and what they were like as people has impacted our lives, they have gifted us so richly with their immense quality. They were gentlemen. Carl still shows us how great he is. Greg has proven it time and again and so has Keith. I need my daily dose of ELP. It keeps me from being satisfied with less and lowering my expectations of my own talents. I sincerely wish that future generations will continue to come across the musical works of these three great masters. This music will never be old and outdated. Greg's voice is so distinctive and wonderful. I have never heard a more melodious male voice.

@RandomPerson56789 could be he was referring to technique?Dunno. I'm sure my piano technique is shoddy. @Marc René Yvon What even is creativity? I remember attending art classes and my teachers would insist on giving us nebulous and vague criteria that we were expected to interpret and define our own way, but of course our work didn't stand up to the undefined criteria, so they got to judge everything subjectively while claiming there was some objective standard of judgment. That's when i quit pursuing the "artsy" end of the arts and pursued more technically grounded art courses. @Frans Schmitz Amen.

My all time favorite ELP tune, and a stellar example of their diverse and original talents. Very high position on my favorite "anything" list. Emerson was a staggering talent on piano..

The wonderful thing about music is that it offers so much in so very many different ways that it will always find appeal to someone. In this trio we have masters of the art in every respect of their instruments and composition skills. There is humour, sadness and every other emotion for the listener. In the future others will come along with a ground breaking approach to how they present the tunes in their heads. The world would be a very sad place if everyone played the same tune from the same sheet. Every generation needs to experiment and move forwards with a new audience. In this way the music will never die and future generations will benefit from what is to come...enjoy whatever you choose and always give the new a chance by not dismissing it out of hand because it does not fit with what you hold to be the best from the past.

The 1st time I heard Greg Lake was on the King Crimson debut album, "In The Court Of The Crimson King" and when I heard Epitaph it gave me chills. I've heard other singers try to sing it and it just doesn't work. Only Greg Lake could sing that song. The restraint and power he had was simply incredible. And that vocal quality he possessed was unmatched.

We saw Crimson in Wichita, Kansas in the summer of 74? 75? Somewhere in there sometime. Gentle Giant opened for them and they were great! They stomped around the stage like...well...musicians on a mission. They played most of their stuff off of the 'Three Friends' album. And it was great! They had their shit together! Never was I able to see ELP.

@@jimcramer5125 You are so lucky! I wish I had had the chance to see KC. Although I did get to see Gentle Giant live in 1976. I still listen to all of that great prog rock today. Nothing beats the 1975 live version of Aquatarkus on full speakers driving through the country side. Plus all the rest! Stay well!
