Oh ofc I’ll help u! Ok my first tip is to do a ton of research. On all alterhumans in general. Second, instead of saying “I’m a new therian” say “I’m a newly awakened therian.” You don’t *need* gear, but if you want it I’d suggest telling your parent/guardian abt ur Therianthropy. If you’re closeted, it’s best to just wait. Research is the most important, but make sure to be respectful of everyone :)

What is a therian" Therian (th-ear-an) Word: Noun THERIAN. A person who identifies as a non-human animal on a psychological or spiritual level based on animilastic urges and/or behaviours. "Can you choose to be a therian/ choose your theriotype?" No, like gender and sexuality, it is strictly an identity that you can discover in yourself. "How do i find out if im a therian/ what my theriotype is?" Based on animalsitic behaviours/urges. Example: The urge to bite, hunt, or Jump. Many therians als experience mental shifts, which is an experience in which an individuals mind may be more animalstic. Or phantom shifts, in which you feel like you have the limbsof your theriotype. Als dream shifts, wjere you are your theri type in your dream. "Do all therians have past lives" No. Past lives is normally from the spiritual therians. "Why do therians wear/make gear? And what is it?" Gear is an object/accessorie that many therians use to feel more like their theri type. Some examlpes of gear is: Collars, masks, hair clips, painted rocks, necklaces, art, bjects of relation. "Is being a therian a mental disorder?" No. It is an identity similar to your gender and sexuality. However, therianthropy can cause depression and anxiety because of species dysphoria. "What is species dysphoria?" Species dysphoria, similar to gender dysphoria, is when an individual experiences feelings regarding their species. The individual will tend to look at themselves or their theriotypes and feel a strong want to be their theriotype. Species dysphoria, if severe enough, can cause depression and anxiety. "Do therians use litter boxes r leashes?" No therians do not use litter boxes. And if you believed the rumour, you are rather naïve, as the rumour stemmed because some schools have litter boxes incase of school shootings, or service animals. Though some therians may wear collars or leads because it feels more affirming of their identity for them. "What is quadrobics?" Quadrobics is a sport in which people run on all fours (hence the word quads), normally to race. Though many therians do this sport as it feels affirming of their identity. "Whats the difference between therians and furries?" Unlike therians, furries do not identify as the animal they dress up as. furries are merely people who take interest in anthropomorphic animals and wear costumes. "Are therians z♡♡philes?" No. Therians do not use their identity as an excuse to do acts like that. And many therians are against and hate zoophiles. "What is the difference between psychological therians and spiritual therians?" Spirtual therians tend to believe in past lives, and may use methods such as meditation to connect to their past life. Psychological therians are more mind based, and may have a harder time figuring out their theriotype. "How specific can the identit get?" Very. You can go as far as figuring ♡ut exact species, pelt colour, skin colour, eye colour, if its albine or has some other sort of colour variation. But not all therians can figure out all of that, and may only be able to figure out what family theyre apart of. Terms: Theriotype-The animal a therian identifi a Gear-objects/accessories that therians use to help affirm their identity Quadrobics- a sport Zoophile -a person who is attracted to animals in an nsfw manner Alterhuamn- as something a person who identifies ther than an animal Plantkin as a plant an individual who identifies Fictionkin -and individual who identifies as a fiction shown being, such as a character-specific type such as sonic the hedgehog. Or a fictionial species such as an ork or vampire Otherhearted- identifying WITH a creature instead of AS a creature. Example: dragon-hearted Otherkin- identifying as a fictional creature such as a dragon Were an old term that used to be used to refer to therianthropes, derived drom were-wolves. This term is rarely used. Coping-links- people who choose to identify as an animal or creature to help cope with depression, anxiety, trauma, or day-to-day struggles. It is NOT the same as therianthrope or ♡therkin Polytherian- having more than one theriotype Clad therian- indentifying as a whole group rather than a specific species. Example: identifying as a bird rather than a crow or magpie Contherian- a therian whos animal and human side are intertwined and dont experience shifts as they are constantly stable on both sides Awakening- the process of someone discovering and realizing that they are an alterhuman Anti- someone who is actively against alterhumans and tend to sook ♡ut content created by alterhumans to ridicule and hate on them SHIFTING: feeling, sensing and/or having a experience that relates to their non-human identity for a long period of time. Not all alterhuamns experience this. Mental shift when a persons mind changes to be more like their kintypes, and may think and act more like their kintype Phantom shift when an alterhumans limbs change to feel more like their kintypes Astral shifting- experiencing an out of body experience and travels to another world or spiritual plane as their kintype. More often experience as a spiritual type alterhuman. Aura shift -when the auric or energy field around an individual changes to one of their kin type Berserker/feral shifting- When an individual loses full control of their body/mind and becomes more like their kintype. This is normally seen as a mental disorder different from alterhumanity. Hello! I have a few tips for you! 1: do NOT say you’re a ‘beginner therian’ bc ppl will think ur fake! Say ‘newly awakened therian’ instead. 2:know the definition of therian by heart! Do all of ur research! Here’s the definition if you need it: a therian is an individual who non- physically identifies as an animal due to involuntary animalistic experiences. 3: you don’t need gear or quads! But if you want to do them, feel free to! 4: only tell close friends and family that you’re a therian, unless you’re talking to another therian. Please make sure that the person you’re telling will be supportive! 5: if you need help, ask another therian! If you’re having trouble with species dysphoria, or maybe you’re having trouble shifting, talk to me or some therian friends! The community is very supportive of young/ newly awakened therians. Sure! First off, here’s the definition of a therian: a therian is an individual who non-physically identifies as one or more animals due to involuntary animalistic experiences. It’s not a connection, it’s not abt gear or past lives either. If you have a connection with animals, and you identify with animals instead of as animals, then you could be otherhearted! If you choose to identify as an animal, you’re otherlink/copinglink! Recommended place of research: therian nation (or smth like that 💀) Anyways good luck!!

I’ll help you ofc! -in no way is any part of therianthropy a choice. No, you don’t get to choose if you’re a therian. You can choose to wear gear or do quads, but things like shifts and theriotypes aren’t choices!! :) - to find your theriotype, you usually gather info from shifts you’ve had in the past. If you’re a spiritual therian, it’ll probably be easier because of dream shifts, etc. but you can find theriotypes using shifts like phantom shifts. Example: during a phantom shift, you might feel a fluffy, long tail and smaller, rounder ears- rather than feeling a stubby tail with sharp ears. You could possibly even be a cladotherian, or you could have no theriotypes at all and simply identify as an animal. Any animalistic experience is considered a shift, btw!! There are many types of therians- it can be hard to tell what or who you are, and that’s ok!! Just make sure to do research! You could possibly even be something like fictionkin. You just have to research your butt off lol! (Btw sorry for yapping I just love showing off my research lmao)

Nimble-pawz I have a big problem. I love the idea of being a therian. But many say you have to be born a therian. But I didn't have a shift or anything. And I want to belong. I'm so desperate! Can you help me?

Of course I can! You obviously can’t choose to be a therian, and it’s ok if you’re not one! There are other terms you can use instead. For example, copinglink! A copinglink is someone who chooses to non-physically identify as an animal to cope with something! You can be that :) (Here’s the definition of a therian if you need it) A therian is an individual who non-physically identifies as an animal due to *involuntary* animalistic experiences, such as shifts, urges, or thoughts. (You CANNOT choose this identity)

All you really need is the identity :3 also, Fun link is someone who non-physically identifies as an animal for fun :) you can tell your friends if you’re comfortable :>

@@EnyaMarkwalder it depends on what you think. For example, the urge to play soccer isn’t a shift, and it could be the same case for quads :) but if you feel like it’s definitely a shift then that’s your experience :>

Now, there are significant differences between all three identities. Copinglink: do you choose to feel the way you do? Could you stop feeling the way you do? (In this identity you identify [non physically] as an animal by choice) Therian: is there always a lingering feeling of being trapped in your own body? You shouldn’t be able to choose whether you feel this way. (In this identity, you non-physically identify as an animal-and you cannot choose.) if you’re a therian, then you’d be stuck with this identity for life. Otherhearted: this is more of a connection. You don’t identify as that animal, but it affects your life to the point that it affects your identity. In this identity, you identify with an animal rather than as one. Hope that helps! @@EnyaMarkwalder it really depends on your own beliefs, if you think it’s your past life, then it could be. Therianthropy has little to do with past lives and spirit animals, but they can/do affect who you are! The term therian is only a label, remember that. In the end it all depends upon you and your beliefs! (Also Ty and Dw)
